The way I see it, if it's possible to include ships via the editor, then why not I say,the scuttled High Seas Fleet was a terrible waste,I prefer to use them as a stronger axis force, along with the Italian,Japanese the more the better is the way forward in my opinion,it's a far more interesting game with all these ships added.

Whew! I can't keep up with your posts here! [:)]. Huge waste indeed. Amazing how by 1922, when WPO starts, the world's second most powerful fleet only 3 years earlier is rusting underwater in Scapa Flow! Of course, the French and Italians were already saying at the time they wanted to boost their fleets with captured German warships, which was why British and American admirals considered the scuttling a blessing in disguise.

But lots of great alternate history opportunities here!

Anyway, I really gotta go to work now! Talk to you later! [;)]

ORIGINAL: Connfire
Connfire,my favourite ship of all time is the German ww2 battlecruiser Scharnhorst,I'm thinking about adding her in to my scenario here for WAR PLAN ORANGE,I have done the art work for all the German 2nd world war ship's already,I use them in WAR IN THE PACIFIC ADMIRALS EDITION,I prefer WPO because it deals more with ships, and not all them ***** Aircraft Carriers with there ***** planes pissing me off all the time.

Agree - carriers are cool in their own right, but WPO is unique as it allows the battleships be the capital ships they were built to be, while (mostly) uninterrupted by endless waves of carrier and shore-bassed aircraft.

Its funny, when I first read your post, I initially thought you were talking about the WWI armored cruiser Scharnhorst. That was another scenerio I was thinking - WWI takes place in the Pacific instead of Europe, with the German Asiatic Fleet operating out of Tsingtao, Truk, and other former German colonies. I just got done reading "Castles of Steel", so WWI is on my mind.

I really enjoyed Castles of Steel I read it a couple of years ago [:)]

This book Castles of Steel,I'm afraid I have not read it yet,but I will try to track a copy down and read it,thats if I can find the time with all the ship art needing done.I think the art that comes with the game is pretty poor, and is desparately in need of a revamp.[8D]

Graham.

I really enjoyed Castles of Steel I read it a couple of years ago

It was a great book - reading it was my reward for finishing its prequel, Dreadnought, which ends the very second that World War I begins. I was sorry when I finally got to the ending of Castles of Steel, as I was really enjoying it. Too bad the author can't put out a third book on the subject, but the Dreadnought era really ended with the scuttling of the High Seas Fleet in 1919.

Dreadnought was fun, too, in a different way. The Royal and Imperial German Navies only took a portion of that book, and much of the rest of it had to do with the politics and personalities in England and Germany, between Queen Victoria and the opening of World War I.

My only complaint about Castles of Steel was I'd have liked a section at the end which wrapped up the lives of the characters who survived the Great War. You never really get told what happens to Fisher, Jellico, Beatty, Tirpiz, Scheer, Hipper, etc. I guess that's what wikipedia is for. [:)]

Dressed in white I think I would prefer pole masts. Of course, more realistic for a war setting would be the gray.

Hi Connfire,as requested the USA Pensacola class cruiser

Awesome! Thank you. If a Pacific War began in 1926, and they were still fighting it in the late 20s, I'd think these or a varient of them would have started entering service around that time.
