Main points are, we have a CL/DD group going in to Eniwetok tonight ( well I hope they go in ) we're hoping to hit the MSW's ...we'll see ...
And out BC group has finished refueling and rearming at Saipan and will be steaming for the area tonight. The AOs departed yesterday to get a head start. The BB dreadnoughts are about 3 days to the West of Saipan.

RE: The Cautionaries: 8/13/22
A look at Bataan, we attacked last turn with 1619 AV took us down to 1395 AV, now back to 1432 ... fort levels went down 1 ( to 7 ) so I'd like to attack again fairly soon to see if attacking with less AV will work .. main objecitves are to reduce the fort levels again and to use up his supply.

RE: The Cautionaries: 8/13/22
Ok another view of the Marshalls. By my calculations and based on the spots, he should have started unloading this turn in Eniwetok. But instead it looks like he is backing off and retiring to the East !? Did my "smoke and mirrors" defense fool him into canceling the attack ? I doubt it - but he must be waiting on something, most likely his dreadnought BBs - but should I assume he planned to make major landing with bulk of fleet and didn't time it such that the BBs would be present during the landing ? That assumption seems like a stretch to me - but there must be some explanation. We did torpedo an AP several days back headed straight West for Eniwetok and got "bodies in the water" and he had two groups of MSW supported by 2 groups of DD. This is evidence for a major landing. We did probably drive off the 2 groups of DD covering the MSW and maybe that is why he pulled back temporarily. But nah that doesn't work - if the landing was to go in this turn several surface task forces should have been on hand. So, I guess I'm mystified !!! [&:][&:][&:]
We will continue to operate based on assumption that landing will occur any turn and all planned operations will proceed.
The sub minelayer group went in this turn and built Eniwetok mine field back up to 3011.
The Kwajalein CL/DD group will do another high speed pass at Eniwetok tonight but the DDs are Torp-less so we had probably better head back to Saipan to rearm ( the AE is there ) after this one.
In 3 days the BC group will be at Eniwetok with a CA/DD group 1 day behind .. the AOs are in support. The dreadnought BBs are 2 days west of Saipan.

Yup they're totally gone ( from the Marshalls ) four US subs at Eniwetok otherwise empty. We'll keep running our ops for a few more days .. but gee .. is it "nap time" again ?
Eniwetok mine total is 2999, we will keep running in one of the sub mine layers to keep freshening the field.
Meanwhile over on Bataan our AV count is 1456 ( up from 1419 last turn ) will probably attack again at 1500 .. probabably 2 days ...

So I get my first hit on a "BB/BC" unit in a campaign game against a human ... but I always like to be "different" so my first hit was against the Monadnock [8|]
Unfortunately the Monadock and her task force accomplished their mission by breaking through the Manilla blocade yet again ... at least one AK got through though it took some hits ... bodies in the water ...

RE: The Cautionaries: 8/15/22
The USN is returning to invade Eniwetok and we will resist with several surface groups ... mine total is 2989 ... we do not expect to be able to halt the invasion, perhaps it is beyond hope .. but our real hope is to be able to sink or seriously damage a dreadnought, nothing else really matters ( well sinking a full division at sea would be ok ).

RE: The Cautionaries: 8/18/22
View of Marshalls ... Our 5 Dreadnought BB are 2 days from the replenishment group or about 3 days from possible engagement - they are only to engage under favorable circumstances.
The BC group will refuel but only has about 60% ammo, so will only engage if indicated. One CA/DD group will try to roll up to the East some of their fleet train - we see tankers to the east.
One CL/DD group will top off and prepare to raid their fleet train. While there dreadnoughts are camped on Eniwetok their vulnerabilies remain at sea to the east. And our subs give us targeting data.

What is that shifted-meatball--jap-flag mod you are using? [:)]
Nice AAR, btw. Think you spent less time on actual turns... [:)]

RE: The Cautionaries: 8/19/22
Finally !!!
The first hit on a dreadnought BB in any campaign game against a human by my subs !!!
There have been 9 prior misses in this game.
Best we can hope for is about 35 Sys, but if so - then she will be OOA for while anyway. Our primary mission in the Marianas campaign is to sink or damage dreadnoughts, they are the arbiters of power.
