Ageod's WW I Game

This revised and updated turn-based grand strategy game from the team at AGEOD brings players back to World War I, including both the Eastern and Western fronts and over 4 campaigns and 10 scenarios. As either a member of the Central Powers, the Entente or a neutral nation, players will confront the epic gauntlet of military and political challenges that faced the likes of Kitchener, Joffre, Luddendorf, Clemenceau, Czar Nicholas II or Enver Pasha.

I see no reason for a pre-release purchase. Unless there is a discount to go with it.

And we were (without your dubious "help") discussing what the game would look like before it's initial release. So maybe you should mind your own business.

How about we categorizing your help and comments !

But speaking of "minding one’s own business",
Explain how its yours to vomit your (personal) dislikes to everyone here and how stupid n” silly Ageod business of pre-order is along with your chastise anyone looking forward to the title ?

Your full of crap developers stop working once the title goes to press.

So exactly what axe are you girding now Terminus ?

I’m going to purchase the game, I like the map n’ graphics and truly don’t give an rats a$$ what you think as most your chastising trying to plug the new title.

PS: I seen your art for WITP , people in glass houses ………..[:D]

Lets be fair and give everyone an quick overview of you “discussing what the game would look like”

The game is already downloadable right now (some 900 MB). But it will be playable first on 11th of Nov. then using a small unlocking "patch".

Why? That's just stupid.
ORIGINAL: Terminus

Well, no kidding, Sherlock. I meant it was stupid to offer a product for sale when there's three weeks until it's usable.
ORIGINAL: Terminus

See, this is another example of the instant-gratification society we live in. We absolutely, positively MUST have something the very microsecond it's released.

Here's a thought: don't jump on this marketing bandwagon, but WAIT. So what if you have to wait 24 hours?
As pointed out previously, nobody is holding a gun to my head, but this is just stupid.
ORIGINAL: Terminus

And what, pray tell, have the people who have bought this already "got to show for it"? A useless bundle of data, taking up space on their HDD's. It's just silly.
ORIGINAL: Terminus

Like I said, there's no gun to my head. That doesn't mean I'm not allowed to express my opinion.

You don't continue developing stuff right up until the last second; it just doesn't work that way.[/quote]

Whoo hoo, another War of Attrition! [8|]

ANNNNNYWAAAAAYS... despite graphics (which is a highly subjective topic) Ageod's games are rock solid wargames. I would say that some of the options available here will make this game a definitive warfare sim and an extra bonus that the game covers a relatively uncovered major conflict. I am still wondering how the trench warfare will be simulated by an engine that is mainly used for maneuver warfare (the AACW game and BoA2 are all about the chess-like out flanking of one's enemies). And although Guns of August is certainly an great game also with tons of options, the UI for Ageod's WWI looks to be MUCH more user friendly (and the UI is the one major fault I find in GoA).

Son_of _Monfort,

Bear in mind this game uses a different game engine that the rest of the Ageod games (the AGE engine).
It’s a game published by AGEOD and Philipe Thibaut (AGEOD boss and one of the designers from the original boardgames) works in but it is developed by a different programmer than the others (“Calvinus” instead of “Pocus”).
“Calvinus” was the developer (with Thibaut) of the Great Invasion game before AGEOD was born.
SO don’t expect much similarities to the previous AGEOD games except on the region map.
New engine, new system, new mechanics, new interface, new interactive battle system... [:)]

Ah! I see! There does bear some similarities in the map system to Great Invasions now, although no more than just through Calvinus's pedigree, I suppose. Then is will be interesting to see how the trenching system plays out!

If it hasn't got that stupid drop a unit onto a commander sixty times before they combine then Its worth a look.
I've spent less time forming up Armies in miniatures wargames. Grew so tired of it, just junked civil war from the hard drive.
Should have bought FOf

Perhaps a matter of taste?
Play them both, Forge of Freedom and Ageod American Civil War.
Personally, I think AACW interface, Unit management and march/deployment is much better to handle.

Not gettting payed for writing this.

When will the game be available at Matrix?

Dear Terminus:

On the subject of wasted space, your assertions that this pre-order is "just stupid" or "silly" are, I suppose, opinions. But, let us just say, they are not exactly profound or helpful in any sense. Are they now?

Here I was getting ready to ask in the General Discussion forum if Matrix was going to distribute this game because, until this moment, I did not even see this thread before...that's what happens when the main title of the thread starts with a "W"...had it began with AGEOD, I would have seen it sooner....[;)][:D]

Anyway, looking forward to this release as I believe it will be a nice companion to Frank Hunter's fine effort!

Great news, Erik. Now some questions:

1) Will you be pricing it the same ($49.95) as getting it directly from Ageod?

2) Ageod will be making a demo available. Will it be available from you as well?

3) How extensive are the manual and tutorial, and how helpful to people who never played the board game (which I understand can be quite complicated)? Will this be like EiA, where most of us will need a compass and a couple of Sherpas to find their way?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Hi

I never pllayed the boardgame [never knew it existed [8|]]

After the tutorials, several tries at short scenarios, and mant questions in forum [with great answers], I'm into a Campagn vs. the AI.

It's complex. It's different than the 'standard' AGEOD games. But it's really good game once you get into it![:D]
