Army By Army Activation Mode?

This revised and updated turn-based grand strategy game from the team at AGEOD brings players back to World War I, including both the Eastern and Western fronts and over 4 campaigns and 10 scenarios. As either a member of the Central Powers, the Entente or a neutral nation, players will confront the epic gauntlet of military and political challenges that faced the likes of Kitchener, Joffre, Luddendorf, Clemenceau, Czar Nicholas II or Enver Pasha.

Army By Army Activation Mode?

Post by NefariousKoel »

Do any of you use this more IGOUGO mode with it's reactions as opposed to WEGO in single player games?

It says this the only mode multiplayer runs in and that it's a higher difficulty than WEGO. I would think that if you were going to be playing multiplayer, you'd want to single in the same style. I was just wondering which way people ran them if they also do some multi.

Army by army mode is slightly more complected. The board game veterans seem to prefer it in this mode-I have read that this is how the game was meant to be played. I have not played the boardgame, so am a heretic-I played SP WEGO 95% of the time. It is just faster and easier. On the other hand, there is a good argument that army by army mode gives a more realistic feel to the game. The turns vary from less than a month to 2 months in length. It is plausible to say that it is a better representation of the war to have each turn split by the additional movement/combat phases as this could draw off enemy reserves from a main attack and so on.

In the army by army mode there are a few additional options available also, like retreat before combat and overruns. So, in a sense, there is more bang for the buck playing army by army mode.

You make a good point about playing SP in the manner that MP will be played-if you are going to get into that. I am planning on doing more SP games in the A by A mode soon. I want to be ready for the MP games when those roll around.
