Changes to the UI

Achtung Panzer:Operation Star is an Eastern Front wargame with solid graphics and sprawling battlefields that really emphasize the scope of WWII tank combat. The gameplay is a remarkably realistic turn-based and real-time operational/tactical hybrid wargame that continues the series begun by the acclaimed Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943.

Changes to the UI

Post by wodin »

Well I hate them. Seem to take up more of the screen and they've made the UI I reckon more confusing for beginners. Honestly it's putting me off the game. I can't for the life of me think why they chnaged it? Confusing and as I said takes up more space. The mini map is bigger for starters the Unit selection was far better in the right hand corner and seemed easier to navigate. It now looks a cluttered mess. Also hate the transparency message window aswell, plus it seems difficult to click the unit you want when looking at the stats at the end of the game.

I really hope they give us an option to go back to the old UI or at least make the UI scaleable.

I agree regarding scalability. In terms of where the controls are positioned, that's a matter of choice.

All I can say is that the other improvements are worth the stress, so stick with it for a few battles and maybe you'll stop noticing the UI issues so much.

Still confused why they had to change it. I know a couple of things have been added but to change it around so much, especially when it has already abit of a name for itself with regards to the UI baffles me.

I'm hoping if enough don't like it Graviteam will give us an option to revert back to the old UI. As I said if it was smaller it would be too bad (though hate the transparent message box which is transparent I suppose so we see more battlefield...yet it makes no difference as it's in the top right corner, which is mainly sky.

It's so big it's difficult to ignore...and I love this game.

Interface takes too much space, i.e. is too big?

------> See option 6.12: "No interface enlargement" --------> set "enabled" [;)]

Maybe that works for you.

It is enabled. The UI is more cluttered and everything has been made abit bigger. The transparent message box I hate and the clock is huge ( a minor point but typical of the strange design choices). Second to everything being to big (mini map is bigger, clock huge, unit selection icons bigger etc etc) I'd say putting the unit selection bottom middle (well it nearly takes up a quarter of the screen once the order panel below pops up) was wrong and they should have left it where it was, top right nice and neat. Third pain is transparent box.

Someone from graviteam needs to play it on a19inch Monitor and they will see what I mean. Maybe they thought with previous complaints (Ui has never bothered me until now since APK42 was released) about the UI being difficult to navigate by making it bigger made it easier....

Please give us the option to go back to the old UI or at least be able to scale the new one.

Please graviteam take a look at it.

Anyway enough moaning now.

The panels are too big as I find myself using the minimize button more often where as before I didn't. Now to get the dlc's.

Wodin a 19" monitor, really? Do they still make those? Time to have yard sale and get a bigger monitor which btw is the most important component.

Hmmm... my clock is quite small. Actually, I wish everything else was the same scale as my clock! I think there are some screenies that show it in my other threads.
