Alpha patch

Achtung Panzer:Operation Star is an Eastern Front wargame with solid graphics and sprawling battlefields that really emphasize the scope of WWII tank combat. The gameplay is a remarkably realistic turn-based and real-time operational/tactical hybrid wargame that continues the series begun by the acclaimed Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943.

Post by wodin »

There is an Alpha patch out over at Graviteam forums..lots of changes..Graviteam certainly improve their games over time..and not expect us to pay for the changes either.

INdeed they do. They play there games and take personal interest in them. You'll notice over time that the campaigns often get tweeken over time. I like that as an extra platoon of tanks or more or less AT guns often increase replayability for me.

One of the major plusses of Graviteam is that they consistently support the community. The patches might be difficult to install at times but they're generally worth doing so. Too many developers and publishing houses in recent days (years) have decided that patches and community support is not worthwhile.

Edit: Wodin, can you explain how Andrey runs the patch notes? When I see a patch put up for download, he often follows that with changelog entries. Are these included in the patch, or are they changed items for a following patch? In addition, can the Alpha Patch be installed onto v5.81(1980) Update: Aug 12 or are there prerequisite patches for the Alpha Patch?

You must uninstall the v5.81, install the alpha patch and move it down in the list.

This is the tough thing about communicating with this company. When they are gone, man they are gone. Andrey might not be heard from again for a while. [&:]

What is "move it down in the list" ? Install Alpha, then re-install v5.81 over the top of Alpha Patch?

I am not sure that the order is important but when I uninstalled the v3.09 it was at #5 so I moved down the 4.01 from #1 to #5.

Mine is at the top of the list and it works fine there as well...

The AI is very effective. I just got wiped off the table in Sokolovo playing as the Soviets. Difficulty set to 'Simulator' as always.

I had three platoons of T34s to counter attack with but the Marders just knocked them out in minutes.

Redmarkus if you get time think you could do another thread with screens/explanations about the differences with the new patch, like i believe you did with the 5.81. I've been reluctant to install the alpha and i'm not really clear on the changes.

after finishing the op im playing thinking about installing the alpha. sounds like its not just run the update thru the game update screen. Is this an engine update self installer or just a patch. What are the steps.

well seems to be simple enough. I just used the game updater, pointed it to the march .gt2 extension and the clock came up and when it finished i just saved and play. I have the new main screen and here's what my update screen looks like.

I uninstalled the old patch first, 'saved and played' then installed the new alpha. It works fine.

I didn't uninstall anything, just applied the alpha thru the game updater. I looked thru the new settings and started an op and started a battle and let it run for a bit and so far no issues. I did create a new profile to play under as i believe that is recommended.
