Epic Tank Battle Screenies

Achtung Panzer:Operation Star is an Eastern Front wargame with solid graphics and sprawling battlefields that really emphasize the scope of WWII tank combat. The gameplay is a remarkably realistic turn-based and real-time operational/tactical hybrid wargame that continues the series begun by the acclaimed Achtung Panzer: Kharkov 1943.

Epic Tank Battle Screenies

Post by Redmarkus5 »

QB between three AI Soviet T34 Companies and an SS Heavy Tank Platoon (2 Tigers and 3 Pz IIIs). The Pz IIIs are knocked out in within seconds of contact, even in their hull down positions.

The T34s approach from three directions simultaneously. Sneaky...

Penetration and fog of war... The player can only see enemy units that have been spotted by his own troops.

The AI's units don't remain static - they seek the best angle and keep moving all the time.

It's not completely one-sided, but the volume of Soviet fire means that my units are blinded, damaged, the crews wounded and unable to get many shots off.

Note how the snow is melted and the ground scorched black around this brewing up T34.

Finally it's all over and the two survivors of the last Tiger's crew bail out. They are machine gunned a few moments later, but showing that would be gratuitous.

Cool screen shots Redmarkus4.

This game really is fantastic on so many levels.
Still some bugs and wrinkles to work out,but all in all I've had some of my greatest war gamming moments playing this game.

I can only imagine what Graviteam could do for this type of game if they had the type resources to throw at it that the mainstream Zombie crap gets.

I agree with you 100% Dane. My only complaint about this game is the shortage of player generated campaigns and the complexity of the editor. Apart from that, it's my favourite WW2 simulator of all time.

I know.
I've taken a stab at the campaign editor a few times but have no patience with it.Andrey and Flashburn say it's easy but I've yet to find it to be so.

I have a lot of good ideas for some campaigns with plenty of research material but the editor in its present form will not be seeing them.

If the editor is as easy as they say, why can't they knock together a few campaigns for us? Major weakness of the game, unfortunately.
