As a note to those who are in a hurry to test this excellent scenario: keep in mind that there are two variants in the menu like in another scenario by Pete, operation Konrad. You don't select the variant through selection of a random variant as you might in the stock Kharkov scenario in the scenario start screen.

The variants have identical OOB's and starting positions, but one includes lives for Soviet brigade size units. Remember to check the variant prior to starting a PBEM to avoid noticing that you've started the wrong variant after the start of the game.

The variant without lives for Soviet brigades is really hard, not just advanced, against a competent German player who employs a mobile defence as your Tank Corps will simply vanish in a turn or two.

I have a question about install. The zip file contains 2 folders. One seems like a normal install folder (StalingradPocket101) but the folder above it also contains what look like scenario files as well as a lot of pictures. How should it be installed?

Thanks

For anyone else wondering I answered my own question I think. Just drop the first folder (StalingradPocket101) and everything in it into your "C:\...\Kharkov\Scenarios" folder which for me is "C:\Games\Matrix Games\SSG\Kharkov\Scenarios" but should be different for you I guess.

And in case anyone is interested here's a screenshot of Soviet 21st Army w/ a small bridgehead across the Don preparing to assault Romanian 3rd Army on turn 1.

There are two folders because there are two variants in the menu, as I explained in my post.

In this game I water-marked the important locations on the map - if you turn off place names you will get a nicer looking map.

At the moment there is no AI. I want to get some useful feedback form players and make changes where appropriaate as these are very hard to implement after the AI is done. I also have plans for a few scenarios on this map - again, post feedback.

Personally I find it even nicer if you turn off the 'hex' grid (I do like to use the hex grid, but the map looks very good without it).
