As a former tin can sailor (Vietnam) I have an intense interest in Naval history and warfare. I have read some on this game. Is it worth the investment?

Its a great CV battle game. Hence, it hits quick and hard. Just like the carriers of WWII.
It has many scenerios to play, and a lot of fun for a quick multi-player online game. GC

As a former tin can sailor, you might be disappointed in the "tactical" surface combat, which is both relatively rare and abstractly handled.  It's a good operational level game, tho.
