I think the game is excellent as an exercise in learning more about the Pacific War. I seem to spend all my time looking for squalls, which was as effect that I had never realised was so important.
Playing the Americans I find the two great battles of Midway and Coral Sea are the most challenging I think, although I have not tried The Marianas Turkey shoot. The two Guadalcanal battles are easy not to lose if you hang around the the island and don't venture out too far (I was still learning as I am a rookie, maybe these are more challenging as the Japanese?).
