Ah well, I get to practice until you brainiacs (I'm kidding) figure it out. Maybe JMass won't stomp me so badly if I practice enough.

Interestingly, if I delete the Email Code entry or set it to empty, then the game will ask me for a new password when I start a PBEM game or try to take a PBEM turn.  Does that not happen for everyone?

Not for me, but the bug could be related to the users. My OS is seven 64 bit, normally I login with a normal user but I must install and/or run some games as administrator, so I created one admin "B" to do this. I installed Combat Command as "B" and to run it I must enter the "B" password, in this way I can play etc BUT no password was asked me to begin a pbem.
This morning I did some test and I discover that Cc2ME.exe can be launch from the normal user but it launches CCMErez.exe that needs an admin password to run. At this point I tried to run directly Cc2ME.exe as "B" (and CCMErez.exe didn't ask for an admin password because Cc2ME passed it his credentials) and when I started a pbem it finally asked for a password.

I'm not exactly sure why this value is getting corrupted but I can see where there could be problems installing under one user and playing under another as the registry is pulling from current_user instead of local_machine.  I'm going to move the settings into an INI file to see if that helps.  At the very least, you can fix the problem with Notepad if it occurs again.[:)]

Changing the registry values for email code seems to have resolved my PBEM problem. Hopefully Ian and I can use Combat Command for Battle of the Blogs III.

Start menu, run, regedit, ok. If you screw it up, you will be doomed.

I'm confident they will patch it up quickly. BTW I don't think it effects XP.

My brother and I bought Combat Command last week and have been struggling with the same issue. We both are on XP with standard installation locations.

The game looks like a lot of fun, but we bought it specifically to be able to play PBEM or live long-distance. Hopefully this gets figured out!!! [:)]

It should already be figured out, but needs a round of testing now.

Michael has compiled a new binary which SHOULD go into the first patch next week or so. Here's some details:
Release 1.01
-----------------------------------------
1) Moved config settings to CombatCommand.ini from the registry to correct the email password setting
2) Pointed CC2GraphicsTableXXX.txt files to the correct coordinates for level 2 report numbers
3) Frozen Lake button removed from Editor, Bocage added.

For those who don't want to wait, send me a pvm with your e-mail and I'll send the binary over. Keep in mind this isn't technically a public release yet though.

I and Jmass have both patched the game (with 1.01 public beta)-
We have deleted all previous pbem file and we started again a new game

we have the same result. I'm not authorized to play.

Attached you can find all 3 pbem-files of the game.

Please note the names of the files. It seems they are not the normal sequence

So far with the beta PBEM appears to be working. I'm crossing my fingers.

thanks for the info, Sabre1!

Jmass and me are thinking if it's better uninstall & reinstall the game or hold the old one for more testing....

Jmass, when you look at the top left of your bar, is it really changed from 1.00 to 1.01?

Sabre, I'm curious, how many turns has it been now since you have been holding your fingers crossed?

Yes, it says 1.01.

I am the opponent of Sabre1, we are playing the 4th turn and I have no issue until now while playing with mi1291 my pbem file are renamed just adding a final number, the first time 1, then I replayed my turn and it was renamed with a final 2. I am able to load this files (I should not be able because they should be played from my opponent) so probably the password is not set to that of my opponent but remains the mine.

Still crossed. The game no longer asks me for my password.

Great game, fix the PBEM issues, and it will be one of my all time favorites. Simple interface, straight forward, UI, turn based, JMass graphics are wonderful. I just can't say enough good things about this system.
