Ageod’s upcoming strategy game España: 1936 covers the entire Spanish Civil War from 1936-1939. With more than 200 regions, cities, roads, weapons factories, weather types, factions and sub-factions it is one of the few games to ever examine the period.

Espana 36/i] is one of the few games I think you should read up on before buying or playing.

Check out:

Anthony Beevor Battle for Spain
Hugh Thomas The Spanish Civil War
Stanley Payne The Spanish Civil War

All are available from Amazon.

I grabbed Osprey Spanish Civil War 1936-39 for my iPad.

Bismark -

I am almost done reading Beevor's "Battle for Spain". It is absolutely outstanding, I will be sorry to end the book. Am not sure which one will be next, perhaps Hugh Thomas.

The books listed in this forum are important to those of us (such as myself) who are not as familiar with the time line or events of the Spanish Civil War; and will only enhance our enjoyment of the game.

My thanks to all of you who contributed to the list.

The Osprey books were all Men-at-Arms series. Did you get one about the war itself?

Correct, it is the Men-at-Arms one. I have not read it yet as I am currently in the Civil War II mode. With WiF releasing on the 7th, I have my fingers crossed for a long winter so I can get to these fine games.[:'(]

! hear that. If I wasn't a reviewing Espana even as I write, I'd be playing Civil War II...or Forge for Freedom.

I think Osprey even have couple on the Aces of the war and one on Tanks of the Spanish War. Who would have thunk it.[;)]
Going to have to grab a couple more of these books to get me in the mood, that is when I can get to this game. Yes I have a bad habit of buying games cause I must have, but not playing them - I'm sure I'm not alone.[:D]
