Only allowed to keep one game...

Post by VegasOZ »

My collection includes all of the Matrix/Slitherine games that I would want to buy. I do not have all of them, but that is because some of them do not interest me.

Having said that, if I were forced to choose only one game that I was allowed to keep it would be the Campaign Series. TOAW III would be my second choice.

The Campaign Series is definitely my favorite game of all time.

Obviously, me too.

It is the only game I have consistently have played for nearly two decades.

With that, we are striving to ensure its longevity for another couple decades!

I can't wait until the Mideast Campaign game is released. I'll be first in line. I keep my CC next to my mouse to be ready to go in an instant... LOL

PS: I would pay $100 for a Modern Warfare version of Campaign Series. Something like CMANO but with ground and air engagements. Or a RED STAR/WHITE STAR type version the 70's and 80's.

I would pay $200 for a Total War type affair based on a good strategic model with Campaign Series tactical "zoom in to the battle" action.

Happy to hear. Your support truly helps keeping the series alive and updated! Thank you!

After Vietnam, a part of the Campaign Series Legion will be focusing on Cold War, which will be covering 1948-1985 Europe for an initial release. Since it spans a number of decades, there is vast potential of storylines that can be represented. I would like to see one storyline per decade.

I have been designing the Order of Battles specifically to be able to use in new games. The French in Middle East will be fully capable of being used in Vietnam and Cold War. This has taken a vast amount of work and research (another of the million reasons for the previous Middle East delays), but I wanted to avoid the many issues we have with the old OOB design in East Front/West Front/Rising Sun.

I have an extensive wish list too. [;)]

My all time favourite is Yelnia: Hell by any other name... It was a very large, very long, scenario depicting the advance to Yelnia, the battles around Yelnia and the Soviet counterattack at Yelnia. The beauty of it was that is was a hundred different battles (of varying types - reconnaissance, meeting engagement, river crossings, assaulting defended positions, defending said positions, etc) that combined into an operational blissful foray. Of course, at that time I was constantly playing Umbro, who was the devil in disguise.

It was going to be released with the Project Blitzkrieg #2 East Front expansion, but that was sidelined for the release of the Matrix Campaign Series (2007).

That being the case, I have been updating that scenario (revising the map, rebuilding the OOB and implementing a lot of the new features that will be available in Campaign Series 3.00 due at the end of 2016 (or so).

After Indochina and Vietnam, you mean [;)]

I have not seen too many titles covering the French Indochina wars, so this should definitively be a hoot too.

Besides that, the long era these titles cover is another hoot. The first Middle East conflicts of 1948, OK I can handle them having played CS extensively.

Even the 1967 war has a certain WW II late war 'feel' to it, although things have certainly advanced so there's a lot to adapt.

But bring on 1973 and the battlefield changes completely. Humbling of the Tank, indeed, as one of the ME scenarios is so aptly titled. Without the 'indeed' part of course. [:D]

Been meaning to mention that I missed the Vietnam game, Divided Ground I believe it is named, completely. Never saw it somehow. Is there anywhere that you can buy a download copy of it? I have seen some people are still producing scenarios for it. I've never been able to find a site that sells it.

Any tips on where to buy a copy of it?

Thanks

Divided Ground was the Talonsoft game for covering Middle East conflicts. Then I believe there was a mod for that, effectively known as Divided Ground: Vietnam, or something like that. I would look for eBay for old Talonsoft titles I guess.

Ah, I see. So the Vietnam was a Mod for Divided Ground, is that the case?

I never saw Divided Ground or I would have bought it.

I'll check on eBay and et al, but I am hoping to find a downloadable version of it. I hate buying physical things on the net and waiting for the mail to deliver.

Oh, and then you'd need to find the DG Vietnam mod. There's a lot of old guard around here though, I am sure some one will offer a helping hand !

Yes! Two decades of playing one of those few products of the past that still able to compete with the ones of the future; and defeat them all. If the computer industry would be as friendly and simple to the customer as this game engine has been for two decades the dumpsters would not be so full of computer parts; for nobody would trash them after two decades.

CS forever!
