Well, finally purchased the game!

Kharkov: Disaster on the Donets is the latest strategy title from the award-winning team at Strategic Studies Group. A synthesis of the very best elements of two critically acclaimed and top-rated game systems, Decisive Battles and Battlefront, and a successor to both, the new Kharkov: Disaster on the Donets brings to life a campaign of epic scale and dynamic battles on the Eastern Front of World War II.

Well, finally purchased the game!

And I must say, I was not to be disappointed in the slightest.

To be honest, the whole 'one scenario' malarkey was bothered me little, due to the fact that in previous Matrix Games' I've rarely found more than one scenario to be sufficently interesting.

The scale of the game is perfect for me to play and not lose interest, and that's without exploring the OOB options available, plus with PBEM, any more than 16 turns can lead to a general loss of interest etc, especially as [in my experience] the winner is often decided within the first 5-10 turns.

I can only recommend this game to everyone, but I guess that this is somewhat for my own benefit, and I don't want to have invested in something only for it to fail due to a 'chineese whispers' and mis-information scenario developing!

To this end, I intend to begin work on a Third Party scenario within the next fortnight. My experience in creating scenarios is limited to work on FPS modifications [The Trenches, Battlegrounds and Red Orchestra Beta] as a modeler/animator, however with the specific field i'm aiming for with this scenario, I believe my interest will transfer into a very interesting devolopment.

I've wanted to make a map for a more 'serious' game for a long time, and hopefully i'll garner some support, or at the very least advice, from the community who created/create scenarios for Battlefront/BiI.

Anyway hopefully this is some small incentive for people to purchase this fantastic game, I'll create a thread in the modification board in the next day or so outlining my intentions, and hopefully it will create some interest [please!]

Welcome Flibby, hope you enjoy the game!

You will also find a community for this game at http://ssg.com.au/forums and certainly better support for scenario design.

PBEM's of this game will often go down to the wire with well matched opponents; the recent one I had was only decided when my opponent re-captured Krasnograd on turn 15 [:@]

btw I love Red Orchestra, it's about the only FPS I have any interest in.

cheers Chris
