Operation Husky

Post by mavraamides »

Hi all,

Just bought the game and worked through the tutorial. I've started Operation Husky as the Allies. I'm a little confused about what it takes to get my men released from the coastlines. I'm on turn 10 and the US has occupied the 2 key locations for 2 turns now but most of my men still can't leave the beach and none of my UK units can. The US units that can move are all the way to the north coast and the UK is still stuck on the beach.

What does it take to release my units from the beachhead?

Are your units still in amphibious mode? You will need to click the button that looks like a ship anchor to get them to disembark otherwise they won't be able to go too far.

22.3.1 Amphibious Mode
Units in amphibious mode travel in predesignated friendly areas of the ocean called sea lanes.
When a unit reaches landfall, it may then disembark from the Amphibious Mode using the Amphibious Mode Button on the Unit Action Area. The computer will then calculate any losses (if appropriate) and the unit will then function as a land unit.
All units in amphibious mode have their defense strength set to 1, so hanging around on a beach in this mode is not advisable.

DOH!!!

Thanks. Now I get it. Looks like I'm starting this scenario over!

All this time I thought it was tied to the Area of Operation.
