Loading/Unloading

Post by k9mike »

Can someone explain this abit more to me, because I seem to not be getting my guys on the truck so to speak...lol
I wish there was a separate button that showed unload, and load. because I do not get how or if they are loaded in the vehicle.
last time I did it and they were supposed to be in the vehicle, but when I drove off...they were not in it.
Can someone post a screenshot of how it looks after you got them in the vehicle? Are they shown above the vehicle when they are in, and underneath it when not?(I'm talking about the side screen that shows all the units in hex when you highlight it.
I know you have to be in the hex, and that it has to be in the certain phase to get them on board...but, not sure if they ARE or NOT..
thanks for any help and sorry if this sounds stupid or has been answered before.

Hi Mike,

Here's three screenshots of a loaded unit, then moved with vehicle but still loaded, and finally unloaded.
Hope it helps.

Thanks, but was wondering about the "Loading" part. Guys that need to get onto the vehicle. I moved guys to hex, waited, supposedly got them loaded....but, when moved vehicle...they were not in the vehicle. Think this whole loading and unloading is too much work for what it should be...shouldn't be that difficult or take that long to mount up and be able to move with vehicle. Sorry if sounds confusing....just don't understand why guys are not getting into vehicle, and or how to even tell if they are "Mounted Up"

Did you moved your units or the vehicle before loading? It takes half movement points to load or unload a unit. In addition, for loading (only) both the unit and the vehicle must start in the same hex at the beginning of their impulse. If these two conditions are not met your units won't be loaded and, I'm quite sure there's no warning message. There should be one.

To know if your unit is loaded or not, check the selection window on the right side of the screen, loaded units are beside the vehicle instead of over or below (see pictures).

Ok, thanks a lot...was just not sure how you could tell...So...they have to be along side the vehicle in the sidebox...;)
Will see if can get it to work...thanks again.
Ok...went back on a save point and checked it out and figured it out...It appears that also I was attempting to put too many men in the HT...lol
Sure wish you could get the 2 squads..WITH a leader(He is only one person..lol)
but, it seems that it counts him as a counter/squad in and himself as well...

Yes that too! The number of units that can be loaded is complicated! It is indicated on the counter. I don't remember the details, so you'll have to check in the manual, but I can tell you this: P < PP < 2PP. Oh! O is for outside (e.g. 2PPO).

Good luck! [;)]

P = 1/2 squad plus 1 single man counter (SMC) plus 1 support weapon (SW)

PP = 1 full squad or 2 x 1/2 squads or combination plus 2 SMC plus 2 SW

2PP = 2 full squads or 4 x 1/2 squads or combination plus 2 SMC plus 2 SW

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"

I've also found the interface pretty unfriendly for unloading, as you have to deselect the vehcile then reselect the passenger and unload it ... Plus when there is multiple passengers and support weapons it's pretty hard to select the units themselves
