Some features post-date the manual and are described in the "What's New.doc" (or "What's New.pdf"). This is one of those features. See update 3.4, section IX, item 39 (In Game Elmer Assist) for its description. Note that there is also a separate document for the feature as well: "Elmer Assist Primer.doc" (also in .pdf).

The 'What's New' is in the first topic of the first video, so it looks like these videos are already a failure !

failure

Not really, I was thinking this is the standard basic feature and was not in manual as it might be too basic. My mistake :D

Yeah but see I didn't explain well enough, I guess. The manual was written long ago, so if you come across something not in it, you should go right to the What's New. But anyway, thanks for pointing out the PO Assist, I'll have to mention it in the PO Tutorial.

so, basically what those formation PO tracks buttons means is letter computer to take control of units on behalf of player, is it?

Note that I dragged on too long for this one, the audio starts lagging behind the video. In the future I'll keep them shorter by splitting into two parts if necessary.

Basically yes. I plan on a video for that stuff, after the next two on Combat and Turn Phases.

Combat is up at - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-r-3ttT ... e=youtu.be

Thanks for all the comments so far. Turn Phases are up next and I'll reference Bob's thread on the subject so I don't have to drone on trying to explain too much. All suggestions are welcome, although I may not be able to accomodate. For example, Shunwick suggested that I use a scenario instead of a mock up for the Supply Tutorial, but I couldn't find one that would focus attention on everything I thought should be covered.

Yes, supply was always going to be difficult. I thought you handled it well.

Best wishes,

Hey Steve: It's thanksgiving day and I'm stuffed w/ turkey and stuffing. I'm watching your videos and seeing how
wonderful they are. They are exactly what I needed when I was learning. Good job. I appreciate you and the

I did a detailed description of the first move in my "France 1944 D-Day" scenario that some players have found helpful:

tm.asp?m=1546619

Hi,

I started looking at your first move in your "France 1944 D-Day" scenario (to get some insights into helping me with the game learning curve) and had a question regarding the tactic of choosing a limited number of units to attack the beach hexes when you could otherwise attack with more units.

You do allude to the fact that it would be wasteful to attack with more units because the Germans have a lot of supporting artillery but I was wondering if you could elaborate on this a little more. Especially in the context of your doing this in the Omaha beach sector when facing a much tougher force.

I can sort of understand that you want to avoid defensive fire from the supporting artillery but wouldn't you also want to maximize the amount of damage you could deal to the defending unit as well?

Is it that the optimal way to do this is to essentially attack in waves (a few units at a time over successive combat rounds) which also helps to minimize losses?

My sense is that this is the case but it is not intuitively obvious for a beginner.

Many thanks,

C
