Modern Kaliningrad / Baltic states scenarios

Post by Crossroads »

Just curious are there any modern(ish) Kaliningrad / push to Baltics scenarios out there for TOAW III?

What got me curious was this article:

https://paxsims.wordpress.com/2016/01/2 ... e-baltics/

So perhaps nothing this new portrayed yet, but anything Post-Cold War would be of interest!

No luck, then. Any pointers to other modern era scenarios available, not included in the game install?

Try here. At the right you can select category (WWIII? (Post) Cold War?)- at my count (my own records) there used to be at least 40, of varying quality and for various versions of TOAW.

Thanks General Staff

After having managed to figure out the Rugged Defense antibot question (which took its time LOL) there were a few intriguing scenarios, especially the Baltic Tempest v2 which was pretty much what I was looking for.

Unfortunately that did not load with TOAW III. [:(]

There used to be some (a few) folks who had all versions of TOAW, and could therefore convert scenarios from old to newer versions, though whether this is (now) worthwhile is another Q given changes among versions. OTOH some folks want access to the old scenario to update it precisely so they can update its workings as well to take advantage of TOAWIII features.

Maybe post with scenario (and version) and beg for help (or maybe someone will see this who can)?

Thanks, maybe some of you guys indeed might be able to convert this Baltic Tempest Vol2 to the latest TOAW III version without too much of an effort [:)]

Cool !

I took a QUICK look and noticed one little anomaly, but it doesn't affect anything as far as I know. The original designer or someone familiar with the scenario should look it over to be sure that nothing was lost in translation [but that probably won't happen]. Therefore, have at it and see how it goes !

Hi Stuart - Are you interested in having this scenario included in the upcoming release of TOAW IV ?

Yes, Id be happy for that. Though maybe you should take a look at it and see if its what you really want. You might think otherwise when you have tried it. :)

The state of play is this. I was the author of that scenario Baltic Tempest about 1999 or 2000 or so. I spent a lot of time on it, and it was broadly accurate at the time for details I could find on the Russian Army and NATO at the time. But times have changed. The recent tensions between Russia and Europe made me dust it off, simply because I wanted to see, like the RAND report already mentions, whether they could do it. And the answer is yes... sort of.

Its really the same scenario (Now called Baltic Fury), but ive completely rebuilt the map, which now features pretty much all the terrain between St Petersburg, Warsaw and Minsk. Its probably a bit TOO big. But ive this annoying habit that I dont know when to stop. Its also got a new set of units I created with the unit editor. I dont know if that would be an issue with TOAW IV? Ive put in stuff like new Polish modded Leopard 2's, Armata and F35.

I need to fix the scoring, there are a few bits and pieces that probably want fixing, but ive play tested it and for the most part it seems to work. But if anyone wants to try it, I can upload it. How do you upload it here?

Thanks for the interests fellows, I didnt really expect anyone to be interested for some reason.

You put a lot of work into it, it should be included with the game. See here for the TOAW IV inclusion process:
