People have tried it, but you usually need a fairly large scenario for it to be practical. Overlord 44 or along those lines. I've tried it. But a game of this size against a single PBEM opponent takes enough time- magnify that by the number of times you have to pass the file on to the next commander for EACH combat round and the time per turn starts to really add up. Not to mention waiting for the other side to repeat the process. Then people lose interest and drop out. Then you need to replace them. IMO a logistical nightmare.

But others may have different opinions. Maybe try a search at SZO (Strategy Zone Online) in the TOAW Forums for 'team' or 'team game' and maybe contact someone else who's tried. They'll be happy to give you their opinion.

Hope this helps.
