AA Units

Could someone please help me with info on AA units. How do they work, can they only defend their own hex or can thet fire in to adjacent hexes or farther away? Some of the SAM:s in the equipment files have a long range capacity but I havent seem them firing att long range.

There are some tests they have to pass before the can shoot at something. Check out 8.5.1 in the manual.
