Here is what a 500 meter map looks like in Map Maker (MM) where you add terrain, height and structures of all kinds to your map.

Same 500 meter map in Scene Editor where you can make minute adjustments to all the structures on your map.

Same 500 meter map in the Scenario Editor where you assign the battle groups that will fight in the scenario/campaigns that use this map as the basis for the engagement.

You can use a gravity setting so that things like cows on slopes stand up instead of sticking out of the hillside.

I took that to paint.net and brought it back looking like this to add the fields and rail line.

And finally had all the village terrain put into my terrain map in the colors I wanted it. MM will put the terrain map into colors that it can use. I always put those in colors that I want. It makes it easier to put things where I want them.

When this map was generated it produced a map that looks like this.

This map currently only has the trees put on it. Buildings and the factory come later.

There is a factory complex at the north end of this village. Here is what it looks like. This is but a very small part of the entire village.

This is a map of the battle for Alytus. This shows what kinds of different terrain types you can use. Each one a different color. You assign what the colors mean in Map Maker.

I have standardized some colors for my maps. Paved roads are in light blue. Dirt roads are in gray. Dirt tracks are in bright green tire tracks and gray middle of the road. Various shades of green for different densities of forest. Different shades of brown for fields. Yellow for orchards.

That way when I color over the terrain maps I know what it is I'm looking at and what it represents.

This was an interesting height map that was generated in one of my early maps. This shows to good effect what MM can do. From flat to in your face elevations.

How about water? Lakes, ponds, streams, or rivers. Can they be added?

not only can you add them but you can have flowing water in the river, and adjust the speed and wave height. There are ways to have a two different water levels on your map to show how a pond behind a road outlets into a stream.
