HUD Information-Explanation Please

Post by Enigma6584 »

Could anyone of you testers show us via screenshots how the player gets information from the HUD? For example, if I as a player want to see the makeup of a squad or platoon, how many men, what type of weapons or ancillary equipment they (the squads) are equipped with, how do I determine that from the HUD?

If I have a battery of 76mm anti-tank guns (four guns or just one gun), how do I see or understand the details that make up that unit?

In other words, what does the HUD tell me and how do I use it in-game?

Thanks in advance.

Select the infantry unit in question either on the map or in the HUD.

Once you select that unit it shows you it's relation to the rest of the unit it's assigned to. In this case by green bands which indicate the platoon in in good morale and ready for any order set.

When I select a particular unit the entire organization, in this case a platoon is highlighted in the HUD. The element of the organization you have selected is shown in gold. If the leader of that organization is in radio contact the star to the upper left of the symbol will be in green.

Good Hunting.

Once you have the unit you are wanting information about selected you simply press the "s" key. That brings up the personal data about the unit.

Here is a screen shot of an ATG section. It only has a single gun in the section. Each Section, Weapons Team, Squad or Platoon has a leader. That leader is designated in the HUD with star. Anything units after that star before going to another star are all in the same unit.

Double click the unit on the HUD and it will center in the game map. It will also be shown to have blue brackets around it to help you locate it on the game map.

Good Hunting.

There can be any number of units in an organization from 1 to 20.

Normally you see from 1 to 5.

Here is a 4 tank platoon with trees turned off so you can see them with no hindrance.

We don't count the men in a squad or the individual weapons.

How are the step losses shown? I did not see anything in the pics that indicated what the squads loss status was.

You will see a dead soldier for each step with a 3 man stand. They do not reappear when loading a save.

Also the lower left panel will have a yellow marker for one loss, red for two.

The lower left icon is in PCK, showing a downed man on the map is new for PCO.

Very informative. Could you guys elaborate a bit more on the symbology and information presented in the left-most side of the HUD?
