Map Maker Error - Google offline

Whenever I try to start Map Maker, I get the error message "The Google map servers are offline". Is there a known solution?

I think the issue may be that google no longer supports the API that the developer used when he created Map Maker.

One work around is to draw your map using a drawing tool and "importing" it into the map maker to do everything else. You can also "import" a height map created using drawing tools. Or you can import a flat heightmap that is in the game and then use the height map tools to edit it.

Yes, it makes it harder to create maps. Especially, not letting us use NASAs height data in Mapmaker.
