Mostly not running under Windows 10

The other one I'm having problems with is this one - both installer and patch run as administrator, allowed the former to do a DotNet and DirectX install, the resulting exe files run as administrator:

1) Map Maker runs (but complains about not being able to reach maps dot google dot com - old API key? non-secure address used for it?)

2) HQ Helper runs (but the list of campaign files is empty - perhaps because there aren't any yet?

3) Scenario editor runs

4) Campaign editor runs (and knows about some campaigns, even if other lists are empty)

5) Map Scene editor DOESN'T run

6) the actual game DOESN'T run - there's a 'click' noise, then nothing

7) Configuration DOESN'T run.

(Using the 1909 build of Windows 10.)

Ihave the same problem and I don't know hot to fix it. We need a pro help.

I've had some success with this.

I had a very similar issue with Distant Worlds: Universe and the forum for that game suggested downloading and running the following file from Microsoft:

dxwebsetup

This cured the issue for Distant Worlds and also for Panzer Command: Ostfront.

I will give it a go, but my solution was to run Windows 7 in a virtual machine and play it in that...

"DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already. No installation is necessary."

After doing that, if I run the main game after doing the configuration it shows the splash screen, and gets to the main menu. But the mouse becomes uncontrollable - the slightest of touches sends the pointer all over the place (and not in the direction of the touch) so it's back to the Win7 VM here...

(Oh, now on Win 10 21H1 version for the Win 10 box.)
