Purchasing Units

Post by dazoline II »

After playing a few battles I've noticed that all my units are always purchased for me. I.e. On the purchase screen I always have a full list of units in the middle box and none available in the left box.

I was hoping for a Steel Pantheresque type of purchase where any available unit can be had in the left box for purchase subject to points expendature.

Questions:
1. Is this all units in the middle box when opening the purchase screen working as designed?
2. How can one manipulate the XML battle file to get additional units in the left hand box I.E. purchable but not yet purchased?
3. Are there XML DTD files or lists of units so I could build up a battle file simulating the Steel Panthers type of unit availability?

Yes, scenarios are historical or semi-historical so usually you cannot purchase different units.
2. How can one manipulate the XML battle file to get additional units in the left hand box I.E. purchable but not yet purchased?

You can open the scenario file in the scenario editor where you can add more units (change the map, lower or increase the number of units and so on...) and save the scenario (better with a different name), when you will load it you will able to purchase what you prefer.
3. Are there XML DTD files or lists of units so I could build up a battle file simulating the Steel Panthers type of unit availability?

You can build what you want with the scenario editor, it is not difficult to learn.

Changing a custom designed scenario would be okay for your own personal game play. I wouldn't do it and then put it out for the general community without checking with the scenario designer first.

I should have mentioned I was playing around with random battles not user designed scenarios. Looking at the scenario editor for the first time it does have some of the info I wanted, I was just hoping for more choice on the fly when it comes to picking units.

You can create a random battle and then load it with the scenario editor to add units.
