Another mod making question.

Post by z1812 »

Can someone post a quick point form list of which files need to be changed in order to complete a mod.

In PCK you would extract the dds file to a bmp. You then modded the bmp and repacked it as a dds file. You would then arrange the correct file hierarchy to make it JSGME friendly. Then place it in your mods folder. Is that still the drill?

If that is the case can someone tell me why my old dds mods from PCK will not work in PCO?

I appreciate your response.

I have your PZIIIG and IVE mods. If those are the ones you are asking about, it could be the 3D model has changes and the UV wrap is now different. At any rate, open up the current bmp and compare it to yours.

Yes the drill is still the same. I just looked at your IVE mod and the structure is fine. I'll bet the 3D model has changed.

OTOH there is now a Summer and Winter folder. I wonder if you need to put your dds in the Summer folder and rename it body.dds?

The old file is larger than the new one so the wrapper must have changed.

You may have changed the DDS type. DXT1 is smaller than DXT3 or DXT5. For vehicle skins you only need the DXT1.

What does 'not work' mean?

You mean doesn't look right? Or game locks?

Dds skin should be 171kb or 683kb. (171 really)

Export as .dds, dxt1 with MIPs
Images should be easier to load at Matrix.

Neither. The mod just does not show up in the game.

The file for my Panzer 111G mod is 274 kb as I recall for PCK. The new file is 171 kb. That is why I presume the file has changed.

The Pz IIIG summer skin file is Panzer Command Ostfront\Data\ArmouredUnits\PZ KPFW IIIG\G\Summ\PZ_IIIG_bodyD.dds, if your is 274kb probably it is not DXT1 but DXT3 or DXT5.

Thanks for all the replies.

I imagine that at some point I will repack it in the smaller format dxt1 and see how that works.
