Marines stuck at beach head

Post by Titanwarrior89 »

Got two LVTS stuck a hex away from landing their Marines at the beach(Immobile). Ive hit the unload button, but they won't unload. So are they stuck for good? They seem to be in deeper water.[:(]

Yeah, man, they are out of the battle, unless the crew repairs the engine -- haven't seen that happen yet.  No wading to shore.

It's a shame that you can't transfer from one boat to another -- if there's a way to do it, I haven't figured it out yet.  Sorry, gyrene. [:(]

Yo guys,

here is a nice link with some great pics of landing Marines.

http://www.nps.gov/archive/wapa/indepth ... /sec3a.htm

I think that Glenn already has it [:)].

About tranferring men between landing crafts, I think that it would be really dangerous for the men themselves.
Full equipped men have their movements impeded.
More the sea is not stable like ground terrain, I believe that the result would be a lot of men injured or drowned.

Disabled craft were towed though. They were not left adrift ( nor could disabled watercraft just remain in the same 50 yards of water for ever) If troops were still in the craft I suspect the effort to tow would be expedidited.
Favoritism is alive and well here.

Yeah, I fully agree, but the game doesn't allow for that. I suppose we could petition Mike, as this is a special case. We shouldn't have loaded but disabled due to engine breakdown landing craft floating around aimlessly.

I fully agree with both of you. I wish they would take a look at it. They would not set there forever. I would dump gear myself before I would set there out of the fight and swim ashore with nothing. You could always pick up a weapon and ammo on the beach head. If you could not get a tow. During their op order they would have received some type of information as what to do if their carrier became disabled.

This would depend on the type of unit. In this case they were grunts who had swimming lessons at basic training.[:D]

They had to be pretty profiecient at swimming if they were there, last I checked that was one of the uniform requirements, was an ability to swim.

I myself sure as hell wouldn't want to be sitting in a dead boat. too much a tempting target for enemy artillery or heavy guns. I would try to keep my weapon though, even if I had to drop most of the ammo nd equipment. Chances are, the reason those weapons are lying around is because the former owner was out in the open, and cut down by fire. I'd want to at least have some defense while I scrounged for equipment.
