Take out the Chinks... er, Chinese? There's a billion of 'em, and if you take 'em out, within two weeks there'd be a billion more. [X(]

Seriously, though, for a dedicated 1939-45 database, I'd be more inclined to replace the Nationalist/Republican Spain OOBs.

Are you Depot guys seriously thinking about doing this? I just brought it up as an indirect way to find out what countries you don't play as.

So far, my "favorites list" include (1) you know who[;)] (2) The Germans (3) The Russians (4) a recent addition, the ANZACs. Everyone else is pretty much ignored.

As for the addition of the ANZACs, they remind me of my beloved USMC, in that they had to start the war with mostly outdated equipment, and while they are tremendous fighters with a high esprit, were regarded as poor cousins to, ahem, His Majesty's proper homegrown Britons, who always got first dibs on the latest weapons & other equipment. No we are not doing this...
you started the thread...LOL

I do know how to change the country names and Unit leader names now at leaast.
[:)]

P.S. Australia and New Zealand could have their own OObs instead of combining them...

I think personally that small nations are essential for the diversity and richness of scenarios. The Germans and US are already well taken care of with lots of special vehicles and special troops.
Isn´t freaky to portray all sorts of new "moutons a 5 pattes" (sheep with 5 legs) as we say in French considering their rarity?
I used a lot the Communist China OOB for Indochina scenarios, so did Redleg and Wild Bill. Both Redleg and Wild Bill designed a lot of challenging scenarios for Korea on the same basis. They also designed a lot of interesting scenarios on the Spanish Civil War.
If I remember correctly, Roland Hahn designed a mini campaign with the Czechoslovakians. I also made one with the Slovakian.
Small nations OOB´s are a challenge for designers to make interesting scenarios on lesser known battles with exotic and challenging nations.
They are also an immense reserve of troops to modify for the purpose of making more common scenarios a little bit more interesting.
If some feel they need more German and US toys, it is fine by me and then be it, but please as a fully independent mod.
My 2 cents.

... to allow more room for the Germans, who would it be? My vote would be the Czechoslovakians , as they are more or less a dumping ground for additional German units.

Seriously, though, what active part did they play in the war? Yes, there was the Slovak Fast Division, but the nation itself in WWII was a nonentity for all intents and purposes. I imply no disrespect for any amongst us who are of Czech or Slovakian descent.

The reason I bring this up is to allow for two separate German databases, say one for 1930-42, and the other for 1943-45.

USMC? Does anyone really use them?

Stop it. You're interrupting my pre-weekend party time.

Hey, the Marine OOB is the only one the United States really needs. The Navy wouldn't have any job at all without carting us all over the Pacific to do the real work. [:D]
