dwwin.exe crash

Post by RERomine »

When you hit the "Y" key, SPWaW crashes. The dwwin.exe is a system file, but something about SPWaW is causing it to occur.

The problem is easily recreatable on my system, but I don't discount the possiblity it's something specific to my system. Maybe someone else can see if they can recreate the problem to determine if it's confined to my system or not. I get a pop-up error message and my system gets hung up. Using ALT-CTRL-DEL allows me to do a hard kill of SPWaW and my sytem recovers.

SPWaW version: 8.403
Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, SP3

RERomine....the "Y" key problem has been discussed in these forums at at the SPwaw Depot to great extent, If I remember correctly it has to do with your video card, and the fix was to reinstall an earlier driver, but my memory is not at all what it was yesterday. Come to think of it the day before also. Try a search and post your prob in SPwaw Depot forums also try SPWaw Enhance Forums.  Good Luck.

Another thing you can try is Run only SPwaw, no background operations, (ie: music, virus checkers, etc.) and Go to your SAVE Folder and Delete Steel.prf, the game regenerates a new one when you sign back into it.  Good LUCK

Thanks for the information. My best option might be just to watch my fingers [:)]
