LRDG vehilces - make no snese

Post by ubertechie »

okay
This has to be fixable - probably just by changing the units class in the oob - but why are the LRDG trucks - which where designed and used specifically for 'behind the lines' oerations - not capable of being used like other special ops troops - you buy your SAS squad which can but then their transports cant - doesnt make a whole lotta sense to me.

any suggestions anyone

Cheers

Well, for one thing, trucks can't climb cliffs.

I agree with Über here. It would be nice to be able to infiltrate the trucks as well. LRDG did spend a lot of time behind enemy lines.

Warrior - your point is fair enough :-) - but I still think that this is frustrating

The LRDG didn't fight their way thru front lines, any time they would have been deployed it would already be the rear area, and whatever direction they approach from could be from anywhere.

I did a little scenario last year (not released anywhere) where the LRDG did a raid on an Italian supply post next to an oasis with a few Natives on camels present. The LRDG had to move in, blow up as much as they could and then get out, all within a few turns, the Italians had a security platoon and a couple of armored cars, but they were clustered around the dump, the LRDG was already on map, having already passed thru the front lines miles away.
thanks, John.

John
That is exactly what i want to use them for - that is how the rest of the spec op troops inthe game are presumed to have got there - via a route around the front line - and then attacked from the rear or sides -

You will also note that the support weapons can not infilrate either. US Rangers can infiltrate the Ranger MG's and Ranger AT's can not. So why have them.

Oh yea trucks can climb cliffs if your recon shows you where the goat trails are.

A very good point, Ubertechie. More frustrating still is picking elite units with an MG attached, only you can't infiltrate the machine gun!

I would like to see that if there are special infiltrating units, any attached or associated units could then have infiltration ability for that situation. Doubt that it will happen but it would be a good thing...WB

I set up a scenario for a guy where some LRDG trucks carrying SAS commandoes arrived on the same side of the map as Enemy reinforcements. IO moved ONE of his reinforcement flags to that side adn set up the trucks as reinforcements.

Since LRDG would HAVE to come in from a long way away from the FEBA, this works very well.
