Ready for the Enhanced Fireworks?

Post by Alby »

We are shooting for July 4th for release of SPWAW Enhanced V2.0

Before any of you designers get bummed, anything you have designed already, will work with this version.
It is backwards compatable with V1
This is basically just fixing some errors we missed in V1, like formations not showing up, missing units, or units displaying wrong Icons and the like.
No weapons or units have been moved, or deleted, so anything designed with V1 will work with V2.
Anyone playing PBEM games should finish them up before installing V2 though.

Also Included in V2, thanks to Lahtinen's great work will be all newly colored Russian Vehicle Icons, which look 1000 times better than before.
Also New bigger and better Roads and Railway terrain graphics.
These also blow away the old original spwaw Roads and Railways.
He has also redone the Guns on the Firefly and Sherman 76s... etc etc...their color before kind of blended into the grass and the guns looked to be short barrled guns.
much better now.

Also hopefully the messy Czech oob will be drastically cleaned up.
That oob is very confusing to some for pbem play with all those extra German units in there.
What are actual Czech units and what are not seems to be an ongoing problem in PBEM.

A few more sounds and LBMs have also been added.
Also the pricing of a few units has been adjusted slightly.
Also being tested right now to go along with it are edited versions of the Wild Bill's "Heros of the Motherland" campaign and Flashfyres "Raiders of the Sahara" campaign.
Plus "Long Long Road to Victory" campaign should be done too.

We suspected V1 would have some mistakes slip past us, but we really wanted to get it out there to see what kind of response it got.
Plus the gamers seemed anxious to check it out and Memorial Day seemed like the opportune time.

V2 will be the last for a good long while. We do not want to keep putting out new versions as this can become confusing. plus it really hurts designers.
You can rework the oobs until you turn blue, but at some point you have to say, thats it.
Unless some obvious glaring errors are spotted, but I am confident that won't be the case.
Plus we need to get on to doing other things like editing "Das Reich" and "Russian Steel" and having something set for the upcoming "Desert Rats" Campaign.
which are all HUGE tasks and will take up a ton of time.

We hope you all enjoy playing SPWAW Enhanced.

I love all the work being done for this game but... is there any chance that something can be done to help make changes in elevation more easily seen without having to do a mouse rollover? I really have trouble knowing when there are hills under heavy woods and things like that.

Anyway, great work guys![&o]

Have you tried "Enhanced" elevations are easier to depict in it IMO.

No I'm not cuz I'm in the middle of ALL the mega-campaigns[:D] and I hear there are compatability issues.
Here's a stupid question: Is there a way to find out what the LOS from a particular hex is without having a unit occupy it? It might be gamey but it would be nice...wont have to drive all along a ridge line to find good fields of fire.

During the deployment phase of a campaign scenario, you can take a unit and move it around to find good fields of fire.

In case some of you haven't seen this, there are desert colors for most of the Allied vehicles in the Mod now.

Some Allied vehicles in their normal summer colors:

Is there an introduction to the mod, a list of changes anywhere, or are they too numerous to list?

you mean changes from V1 to V2 or just the general changes from Vanilla SPWAW?
those can be found here in this thread.
