I'm thinking architect was Hitler's other dream occupation.

That's about right ..... Hitler wanted to be an artist and/or architect..... I think that his dying quote was about how Germany had lost a great artist.... hmmmmm he musta be a pretty twisted guy....

2. British XIV Army killed, wounded or captured more Japanese than were inflicted by the entire US Forces in the Pacific theatre?

1) debatable (pearl harbor dec 7, 1941)
vs. (malaya (dec 7, 1941)

The attack began at Pearl Harbor, though some historians say that a force struck a British installation on the Malay peninsula a few hours before.

another source says:
attack on malaya started at 7:30 am on Dec. 7, 25 minutes before 1st wave at PH at 7:55

2) false
theatre japanese combined kia:
south asia = 200,000
pacific = 700,000

source: http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/ww2-loss.htm

even if the numbers were close, the numbers are confounded by losses due to concurrent operations by allies, etc (China, India, USA, Anzac, Disease) in the South Asian theatre.

Hitler wanted to be a painter, he applied twice to I believe an art institute in Vienna and was denied both times. I saw a picture of one of his paintings in the newspaper here recently, he wasn't that good. :)

Hmmm.... I wonder which job was more fun...being a painter or a dictator??

And in the spirit of Multiple choice questions, what was the Japanese radio code for the attack on Pearl Harbour?

Well, he was better than me:

Actually, he wasn't a bad artist at all, he just didn't stand above the crowd... there were scores of good architectures around ;)

Here's a couple good ones...

1.) Who ~won~ WWII. List all those that apply.

2.) What country lost the most, overall in WWII?

3.) What country had the strongest army at the end of WWII?
If you can read this, you're at the end of my post.

That's right. This makes the answer (D).. the English translation of the radio code... the "most correct answer", remember....
1.) Who ~won~ WWII. List all those that apply.

2.) What country lost the most, overall in WWII?

3.) What country had the strongest army at the end of WWII?

1) Okay.. Britian, and the Commonwealth (Canada, Australia etc), America, USSR, China, France and the occupied countries.

2) I believe that Japan "lost" the most.... even the Emperor was in disgrace. However, if you talk in terms of people, then Russia lost.

3) Either the US or the USSR.

Also, thanks to Voraix for all that trivia... I love the one about France and Britian wanting to merge in 1940.....

I once read somewhere that "tora, tora, tora" was actually "to ra, to ra, to ra", ie two words not one and didn't mean tiger but something more mundane (maybe like "do it" or something, I can't remember what it was or where I read it). Am I insane or has anyone else ever heard of this? :p
PS Re: artist/architect, when answering architect as Hitler's second dream occupation I was thinking of artist not dictator as his first dream occupation, thus my answer (remember architect Albert Speer and Hitler were buds). :)

The P-51 Mustang gained it's fame with the same Rolls-Royce Merlin engine that was used in the Supermarine Spitfire series. What engine was originally put into the P-51, with much less spectacular results during its initial testing?

I never heard that he applied twice but did read from somewhere that he was rejected because caricature of his did look a like headmaster of art institute...or at least headmaster did think so...so maybe WW2 did start because this headmaster :D Story also tells that this headmaster was a jew...

Other theories put forward on why Hitler was anti-semantic include:

-The doctor treating his mother when she dies was Jewish
-He allegedly contracted Syphillis from a Jewish prostitute in his early years....
