Scoring problem...

Post by Eddie Poncet »

A few days ago, I played the scenario called "Enough - German Player".
I succeed to capture all the objectives (4000 pts), but it seems to me that the final score was really low. So, I calculated manually the final score and find this :
- I inflicted 1952 pts (losses) to the AI.
- The AI inflicted 1486 pts of losses to myself.

So, the final result should be something like that :

U.S. Army 1486, Minor Defeat
Germany 5952, Minor Victory

But the computer decided that :

U.S. Army 2926, Draw
Germany 7823, Draw

Is it a bug ??? Or, else, someone could explain to me how the computer is calculating the score ?...

Thanks.

Just need one more piece of info - where did you get the VPs for the enemy units from - the Scenario or elsewhere?

Just checked and confirmed that the VPs for the Shermans has been modified compared to the Encyclopedia data.

Dear Roo,

I calculated the total of losses in the battle report screen ("Player 1" and "Player 2" buttons above the screen).

I took the "damage" numbers (writing in red) to calculate manually the score.

Must I to take these numbers to calculate manually the score ?...

Duh! Teach me not to think like that!

Too used to calculating VPs for tabletop games and not thinking about the advantage of this game in auto calculating.

Have to see if I can reproduce the problem...

This problem scoring is also appear in a lot of others scenarios... Though, I downloaded the latest version of SPWAW (v 8.20)...

Hmm... can't seem to find any way of calculating scores in the kills/forces charts. I guess I must be missing something obvious?

What I get on my battle report is:

Kills per side for the scenario:the campaign (split by type... men, AFVs, APCs, Soft vehicles, aircraft and artillery in no partcular order). Under this is the overall score per side - game I just finished was 1573 to 467.

Under this are 5 buttons - Map, Save Score, Player 1, Player 2 and Exit. Clicking Player 1 and Player 2 gives me their OB and status at the end, but no points values that I can see. Map allows me to see the map at the end of the game including undiscovered units.

There is no hard or fast rule to your on going scoring problem.[&:] This has been discussed for the past Three (3) years that I know of and no one has been able to come up with a justifiable answer has to how the scores are calculated.[:-] A SEARCH of these forums will give you a greater insight on this if you want to pursue it further. [>:]Whomever comes up with the answer will become the "Hero of the Matrix Forum Extrodinaire" [&o][&o]Get my drift ?[8|]

Keep in mind that if you have True Troop on, then the encyclopedia 'cost' is not necessarily accurate, as the computer will adjust the actual point cost based on the units experience level. A tank might have a listed cost of 100 at 65 experience, but cost 85 at 55 experience, or 110 at 75 experience. The same holds true for crews, etc.

I think I solved this. Check out the "This is how the final score is figured" thread. You all almost had it. What I propose is only a theory, though, so you try it yourself and let me know.
Astrologers believe that your future is determined on the day that you are born.
Warriors know that your future is determined on the day that your enemy dies.
