Why are there two campaigns, with identical maps, for North Africa and the US vs. Russia?

Harder and easier version? Though with 'Victors' can't tell which one is which.

For North Africa, are you comparing Preparing the way with Long road to victory?

Long road is 3 campaigns added together starting with Preparing and ending with victors.

editing campaigns

OK, thanks. Now I have another question:

Can campaign maps be edited? I'd like to get rid of the tank obstacles in the first battle of the Normandy Gold campaign. I find them more tedious than challenging.

long road to victory

OMG, I wish the campaigns had a description before I started. I played the Tulagi campaign, and then started on the Long Road to Victory thinking it was the same as preparing the way. No wonder this is taking forever.
A sniper assaults a Sherman tank (going in excess of 15 mph) for 20%. M4 Sherman tank is destroyed.
Is this like when a deer runs out in front of a car? Does the Sherman make some violent turn to avoid the lunatic, only to roll over or hit a tree?
