It would help if you gave us the operating system your using....XP, win9x etc ???????

Also you might try deleting the steel.prf file in your save folder, game will rewrite when you go back and reset preferences.

Shut down anything running in the background on your comp, as been stated here many times "SPwaw is a Memory Hog and a jealous misteress who takes what she wants".

Last but not least clean the vents on your machine, a hot running cpu does just what you describe at times.

Just wanted to add to what Chief said, what vidio card are ya using and update drivers, also how olds the monitor?? I'm runnin a ti 4200 G-force4 128mb and I have to keep a seporate set of older nvidia drivers for SPWAW and new ones for Battlefield Veitnam and Metal of Honor, and REPEAT I don't even run any anti virus if I'm campaigning ingame. RT P.S. reason for question on monitor, check the refresh rates cause mine plays SPWAW on 70mhz other games at 85mhz so check it out.
