More New Stuff from Nick

Post by Wild Bill »

I've been writing Nick Bosio, who has been in the process of converting some of my Pacific Island maps for PBEM computer generated scenarios.

In doing so, I've found a number of good things this young man has done. I asked him to provide a list of the tools and helps he has completed and am very impressed. I intend to look at them. I think you should too.

Here is what he has done.

1. The Big Spread sheet:

Its in the Depots “OOB Project General Forum” at the following link:

http://www.spwaw.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3993

It’s titled “BIG Spread Sheet of All OOBs weapons and SHP files” unfortunately its 890Kb zipped, 5.6Mb unzipped.

2. The building graphics:

This is in the Depot’s “ModSwapper: Graphics Mods” area at the following link

http://www.spwaw.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3753

It’s titled “Shore Bty and Tower Icons”

3. The ANZAC OOB:

This is in the Depot’s “OOB Project: ANZAC” area at the following link

http://www.spwaw.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5241

It is titled “A start point!”

There are some obvious issues such as the Grant and Lee tanks. These did not have bow or Commander MGs. I forgot to remove them. Could also be some Arty issues but little has really been said on that point.

If it was to be included in a new release I would like to clean up a few things first.

There is also some other issues with this OOB, Aust troops did not use Sherman vehicles only NZ and that was in Europe. So in reality some encyclopedia entries should be updated to reflect real use of vehicles. It still has AI units as per the game these were not tampered with. Inf Pls were fixed and so were Inf Coys. I am doing a bit of background on this with old mates from the system. Also some good links to the Aust Army Inf Centre Museum and War Memorial Museum. Calling in the “Old Boys Net” so to speak.

From the quality of his maps and the graphics he has done, I think those who like to try new things for SPWAW will be quite pleased.
