French delay at Bardia 12/40

1600 Hours

Well here we are outside Bardia with only 21 more days before Christmas waiting for the Italians to try and push us out of here. It is near 4:Oclock early evening. Some of the heat of the day has lessened and a slight sandstorm is brewing. The wind has an errie whistle too it. We can hear the Italians preparing over the way to come at us. We can hear the sounds of there engines over the howl of the wind. You can even hear the clank of some of there metal canteens as the men begin to move into position. Sounds as tho they must have alot of armor begining to rev up lots of motor sounds coming in on the wind.

We are ready and waiting in great anticipation for them to appear out in front of us. The vis is still good at least 900 feet should give our gunners excellent shooting today. I have given orders to lock and load and begin shooting as soon as they have a good target. Extra rations of water has been given out even tho the heat has gone down it is still very dry.

For the glory of France Viva La France forever. Here they come this battle has begun heard the first report from one of our 105 IG. Its a very heavy report easy to pick out on even a very noisy battle field which this one will turn into very shortly.

In only the first 5 minutes at least 50 pieces have appeared out in front of us. Looks like they are throwing caution to the wind and goin at us with all they have. The recon photo was snapped with in the first five minutes of battle. We have already taken out at least 20 pieces of armor so far with no losses to our side.

A holding the north flank is getting hit hard as B in the center. A lot of there force has actually hit somewhat south of center in between B and C on our south flank. This has allowed for the gunners from Both B and C to lay into there flanks with excellent shooting so far.

Dam this was over quick less then an hour only 40 minutes to send them running. It was really a turkey shoot today our gunners had a field day. Just like shooting ducks on a pond. Thery ran right up to our gunners and had nothing big to even hurt us. I dont care what you say goin up against a tank with a MG doesnt make much sense. We took out 126 of those little sissy tanks the Italians are so proud of. They also lost 874 men 2 artty and 15 soft vehicles today. They did not really hurt us at all today our losses were 25 men 1 tank. They were very brave today but also so dam stupid. Running right at us in mass attacks and sending those dumb little toys they call tanks.

We have gotten our orders and we are to move all the way over to the west coast and set up a defensive line just outside of Agadabia. Once again we will go up against the Italian might so to speak. Some of our 120 morters have already gotten 20 kills and im sure that will go up once we face the Italians again. They just dont seem to give a dam about there own lives let alone others rights and lives.

We will at least have some time off for leaves and rest and upgrading some of our equipent. I am hoping I will be able to go home to Italy for a couple of months. Sure would like to see Rosalio again even for only a weekend. It has been so long since ive seen my family. I ache for there touch and there warm embrace once again.

We dont have to be set up out side of Agadabia until the 8th of April. Little less then 4 months with no bullets or bombs it will seem like heaven im sure.
