1200 Hours
We have been given the task of taking Tobruk from the British today. Our jump off time is 1200 hours. We have scrounged up at least 5 platoons of Engineers from HQ plus the three we already had on hand, one from each company. They are to proceed down a road that runs west to east almost dead middle of the map and down thru the middle of the center objectives for speed. The north objective is maybe 250 feet nw of the center one.
The troops will advance in a three company front directly behind the Engineers after they cut a hole thru the lines they will move thru. Have moved up all the 150 sigs on each side of the road for support of the Engineers and two platoon of tanks are on there left flank as help.
This will be a very tough fight today and we expect heavy losses as the British are well dug in. Laid in a heavy priliminary bombardment on the suspected mine field in the hope of helping the Engineers. More then likely it will take at least 20 minutes before any of the Engineers reach the begining of the minefield. And thats if they dont get any fire from the enemy at all. Also we need for there artty to remain quite for the next 45 minutes.
A lot of ifs I know but I think you need to have a lot of luck too as well as good planing. The men are up for this today morale is high. We are full with replacments and at full strength. Equipment has been repaired and upgraded witht the latest and best we could get.
The only thing is the British have dug caves and are well dug in, going to be very tough to dislodge them from there holes. Plus we have this dam mine field to get thru once the hole is opened we will begin to destroy as many of the Limeys as posible.
In the first half hour our planes will be taking off with the Paras aboard to strike at the rear of the enemy. We hope they will find the enemys artty dump and destroy it so to take the pressure off our Engineers and troops as they try to bust thru the mines. Its a full company of paratroops plus mortars and ATR as well as scouts with them.

The first squads of our Engineers have reached the mine fields and will start soon to begin there work. They ran into some small arm fire on there left flank as they moved down the road but the Sig 150s soon delt with them and this has stopped.
The only big problem is there dern artty opened up on us about 5 minutes ago. This has slowed down the Engineers a lot have sent my adjutant down to try and kick some ass and get them moving again.
Laid in a lot of smoke with my 81 Mortars. Think we may have located there 25 LB artty dump have called down a heavy bombardment of the area in the hope of slowing them down. Our paras havnt taken off yet should be real soon. Should call down a artty strike on the drop zone soon before they take off.

Our Engineers have still not been able to open a hole in the mine field as yet. But I must admit they are working under very extreme hardships. The British must have had every gun in there army moved here to stop our assault. The Engineers have been under one of the heaviest bombardments I have ever seen today.
Meanwhile our paras have not fared too well either. At least 4 squads of them are surrounded by 7 tanks and not coming out too well on the exchange with them. I have gotten word that the plane carrying the 3 squads of Engineers has not left the airfield as yet. Some kind of malfunction I suppose. Plus two of the gliders is late in taking off as well these were carying there 81 Mortars too them. At least the 3 ATR have landed and are moving up to help the ground troops with the tanks. Although I really doubt they have the punch too take out any of those monsters. Really needed those Engineers to assault those tanks.
Have started to move the troops up closer to the mine field so that they are ready to go as soon as the Engineers punch a hole thru. Look to have a hole opened up with in the next 15 minutes for sure.

One hour into the battle and all does not go well for us. The engineers have finally opened a 50 foot wide path on the extreme southern flank. 3rd Platoon of comapny C has gotten thru the wire. I can not tell you how elated I am over this news. I dont know how the Engineers where able to even accomplish this amazing feat. Thay have been under extreme heavy bombardments from the very first of reaching the mine field.
At least the Paratroops have done something as they took a lot of the 25 lb fire off of the Engineers on to them. They have had at least 2 platoons of tanks attacking them ever since they dropped. They have managed to take out at least 3 tanks plus 4 25 LB guns while with standing overwhelming odds. The plane carrying there Engineers to help with the tanks never left the airport today. One squad that had been squeezed on a glider with the 81 mortars and ATR has not done much so far as they have been heads down in a hole just trying to survive. One of the ATR got a rear shot on a crusader and sent them all to hell.
We have lost at least 4 tanks plus two AA to the heavy fire of there 4.5 artty. Also over 100 hundred men have been killed by this heavy and unrelenting fire. Most of them coming from the Engineers. At least we still have over two hours to accomplish what we set out to do today.
I have run out of all 81 mortar ammo and nearly out of 150 as well. Have maybe 2 more rounds of 150 and then we are really in for it. Especially the paras as we wont be able to hold all the tanks at bay they are facing. I fear for there safety and dont expect many of them to survive the battle today.

We are thru the mine field at last took over an hour but now the Engineers have opened up a 450 foot wide hole. Every thing has begun to move toward the objectives. A in the north is with in 400 feet of the northern vhs. B is massing on the western side of a small ridge getting ready to go up and over as soon as they are set to go. The objective is about 600 feet the other side of this ridge. Have to hold up till they get some tanks moved up to help as there is at least one bunker sitting 50 feet north of the vhs. C has begun to move south towards the southern objectives they have a long way to go before they reach them tho. At least a company of infantry and untold tanks are sitting in there way too.
Our losses are starting to mount up from being massed at the mine field and there constant bombardment of them. From all reports we have lost at least 200 men and maybe more plus 2 6/2 AA one 81 mortar and 2 sig 150s from this horrendus volley of death. Along with this carnage we lost4 stugs 2 Pz IVe and 3 IIIh. Plus our airborne have been going thru hell as well. 6 complete squads from there company have been wiped off the map. Along with two of ther ATR destroyed leaves them 4 to deal with at least 7 more tanks left. Even with the losses they have managed to take the southern rear objectives and are holding them from the last reports I have gotten from them. They have managed to take out at least 15 tanks as well as 5 25Lb guns and several squads of infantry. There 81 Mortars have run out of ammo just like ours have.
Mean while our front line as they have advanced have taken out at least 7 2 inch mortars along with at least 4 bunkers.
A in the north are advancing behind the Engineers so thay will be able to blow any more bunkers as we go. As soon as the mine field was opened the Engineers began to move out in front. Have also gave the tanks an order to move up close with the infantry so as to give them as much support as possible.
Our boys are having a heck of a time as the British are really trying with all they got to stop our advance here at Tobruk. They must have moved every 4.5 they have here to stop us today. We will take all our objectives today even if we have to fight them with our hands today is our day. Glory to our leader on such a great day as our men give everything for the Fatherland.

2 hours of nothin but brutal killing. The British wont give an inch so we must root them out and kill everything in our way. Have run into a lot of bunkers set up with inter lacing fire. We have taken out at least 13 of them with it being a mixture of heavy reinforced down to the lowly log rifle pits. Have also taken out at least 7 25 Lb guns plus at leat 7 AA emplacements. The paras have been cut down to maybe 5 toatal squads with them being at less then 7 men to each squad. Some of them are all the way down to 3 or four men left. But if it hadnt been for them i dont think our assault would have went as well as it has. They pulled off at least a half a company of tanks on to there force. They also took out all of the 25lbs and kept there fire off of our main force.
We owe the sucess today to them and there terrific fighting. I believe there should be a lot of Iron crosses given out to them today. All the objectives in the west of map are in our hands and completely under our control. Only one flag remains to be taken and that is in the north rear. It has been a go in and dig them out and then push alittle forward and do it again. The British put up a hell of a defense today and deserve a lot of credit. We just had more and better equipment was all.

The battle has concluded and we managed to get a draw out of it. How I dont know we took out everything but 3 25Lb guns there off board artty and one lone tank where he was I have no idea. We scoured the whole map I thought but he was hiding some where good because with every body out lookin to kill anything that showed. He still managed to elude all our efforts.
We lost way to many men today and I feel really bad about that. But it was a very tough fight to root them out. 509 of our men died bravely today while we took out 1167 of there men. They also lost 53 pieces of artty along with all there crews. Most of our losses in armor came from the very heavy bombardment that went on all during the fight. 16 of our brave men from the tank force were killed fighting while taking out 32 of there tanks.
We have gotten orders to move to Agadabia next month and start getting ready to advance against the enemy there. Have been told all our old sig 33 150 are to be upgraded to sig150 pz II. Better armor not much but some and I believe couple more miles in speed as well. All mortars are to be upgraded as well to the 251/2 sp they will be able to keep up with the front line better as well.
All in all today went well for us we were able to root the British out of Tobruk and to inflict very severe damage to them. Our PVe tanks and our Pz IIIH tanks have been able to hold there own with the British armor and to mostly come out on top. This I have reported to the people at the top and I hear this has pleased them very much.
Getting close to Christmas time and the men have begun to look for a tree for the celabration next month. Hard to come by any kind of wood out here in the desert let alone a tree, but im sure they will come up with something. Men are in good spirits even with a lot of there comrads losing there lives today. Sure wish this war would end soon so we all could go home and be with our loved ones for Xmas.
