About Storm over the Pacific

Post by Rising-Sun »

I decide to go ahead and buy this and wanted to say the introducing movie was okay, but the zeros flying off the carriers should been white instead of green. And didnt see any peoples on board either ships. The models was great, but lack of other things to show interests.

The music themes was kinda annoying for some reasons, maybe not for all of us and i find it strange. So i put my own music themes in and made it more comfortable to listen to.

The UI and the clicking on units or hexes is not good, the battle happen so fast and wish it was 3D scenes to see what going on in that locations. After you click the location, have to choose different modes to see the details.

Also some bases are missing and resources are laid out in vary places, so Japaneses would have to safely transport them to homeland to make raw materials from it, such as Steels, Rubbers, Oils, etcs.

I didnt care for the game much, find it rather boring!

Maybe you can do some good in the future, like Storm over the Pacific 2.

You have to go into the preference menu and change the delay.

Open up the information box and unit info box.

Move them where you want.

Keep them open all the time. I like them in the upper right hand corner.

Try the Rising Sun Mod.

I love the game. I like the fact that the Japanese are aggressive and keeping me on my toes. For example, I was clearing the Japanese out of Australia and they came around and landed troops in anchorage.
After 16 years, Civ II still has me in it's clutches LOL!!!
Now CIV IV has me in it's evil clutches!

I have to agree about the ports and resources thing. There is room for improvement there. Can that be modded? Other than wanting to stack 1 a/c unit in any land hex regardless of the presence of a friendly Inf div, I have a lot of fun with this game.

I think ilovestrategy is right about the Japanese AI efforts. They just don't stop coming at you from all directions and I respect that. I have come to realize that I still expect the Japs to play more historically which is a major strategic blunder on my part! I need to be ready for anything - anywhere.

I like the quick pace of the game and yet it still has hundreds of turns. The 1 Inf Div per hex makes for a more chess like maneuvre type of game, a player really has to think out each movement carefully in the limited real estate available.

This is more than a beer & pretzels game but way less than some of the other mega-games in complexity, yet it still has quite a bit of depth. That is one of its best features imho.[:)]
No problem Chief!
