Crash saving game with 1.05 patch

Post by cbelva »

I just noticed that the v1.05 patch was listed on the product page and being released today. I downloaded and applied. I set up a new game Pacific Campaign playing as the US. I went to save after the Japanese's first turn and the programed crashed without saving. I tried it three times with the same results. I am running Windows XP.

An update--I uninstalled the game and did a fresh install hoping that this would correct the problem. I applied the 1.05 patch. I set up a new game, Pacific Campaign playing and the USA. At the start of my turn, I went to save the game and as soon as I hit the save button it crashes. This makes the game unplayable. I tried saving a different scenario and had the same crash. Did not have this problem in 1.03. Am I the only one with this problem?

I have not tried the update yet but if you are using Vista or Win7 try running SotP as Administrator.

cbelva,
Just after the game will crash (before starting it again), please go to the main game folder and copy whole ConsoleOut.txt file and please paste it here.

doomtrader, I had performed a fresh install after the update wouldn't save hoping that it would fix the problem. I checked the main folder and the program did not create a ConsoleOut.txt file. I started the program back up, set up a new game and then tried to save it. Checked the folder and still not ConsoleOut.txt file.

I'm not getting any CTD when saving Pacific Campaign, either when playing Japan, or USA, but I have lost the mouse pointer map scroll - right and down (left and up still work). Key board controls still work OK.

I am using Windows 7. [:)]

I'm using Windows 7 and all of my saved games are not "compatible" with the current updated version.

I'm running Vista home addition.
1.05 runs smooth as Japs and Allies playing Pac. Campaign.

Anraz, thanks for letting us know. From the comments it appears that this problem is related to Windows XP.

I'm just testing the game on one of my machines that has previously crashed, and now it's running smoothly.

Hotfix should be available soon

I've tried playing a new game since my saved games are not compatible with the current version. I have a CTD evertime I click on the next turn button. It's the first turn and I have Windows 7.

Edit: I just found the quick fix and I don't have the CTD anymore after going to the next turn. I still cannot play my saved games though. They are "not compatible with the current version."

There is an unofficial trick - in a save game folder try to change in info.ini file version number to current version of the game, however do it on your own responsibility.
