Amphib Invasion on one hex?

Post by Max 86 »

Hi all,

Just started last night and am having a lot of fun. I didn't expect the Japanese to invade Hawaii but thru turn 12 I have been able to push them back to the western edge of the islands. As you know the western edge of Hawaii is only one hex wide so I was wondering if I can attack from land with one division and do an amphib invasion from sea from multiple surrounding hexes with multiple divisions?

I left the game last night cleaning the sea zone around Hawaii of all enemy TFs but the enemy divisions on Hawaii have not seemed to lose any strength. How are they supplying? Thru a Mulberry? Can you see enemy Mulberrys and what happens if you control the sea zone with an enemy Mulberry in it?

I am thinking that I have not waited enough turns to see the enemy stength decrease. Any thoughts?

BTW, a really nice game. Lots of fun. One of the things I like most is that the land combat requires some maneuvering but because of no stacking of units and the narrow hex-width of some islands, this will really make me take time in planning attacks and how to move fresh troops in and out of the lines. More like chess that way. Can't wait for Time of Fury.

you can't use units attacking from land and from sea to coordinated attack.

units can receive limited supply (up to 20) from the fleet in adjacent sea zone.

thanks for the kind words.

Thanks for the response. I found out the hard way last night![:D]

Now that I have played about 20 turns and learned how things work I will start over and have at it.

I have not been able to stop the Japs from taking Hawaii. Is it because of their love for pineapples? [X(]
After 16 years, Civ II still has me in it's clutches LOL!!!
Now CIV IV has me in it's evil clutches!

The beta AAR is an excellent read. If I understood correctly the broken rail lines are repaired automatically and the player does not have to allocate units for that? Nice!

As far as keeping Hawaii, I upgraded infantry units to corps and spent virtually all PPs on naval repairs each turn. After re-org of the fleets, I had all TFs sitting in the Hawaii sea zone to stop reinforcement/re-supply of the invaders. Mostly thru naval air bombardment and choking off supply I was able to hem them in on the western edge of the islands.

Exactly. Also repair time depends on seazon and a random factor!

I tested 1.05 and was surprised to see the AI attack Hawaii as this doesn't happen very often.

No problem. Upgrade unit in Pearl to corps and bomb the Jap fleet to win.
