Hi I just bought the game,and started up the new editor,my interest is all things naval,I started off by adding the German Battleship / Battlecruiser Gneisenau,she is the Scharnhorst's sister ship,for anyone who does not know.

When you add a new ship, I noticed that it goes to the bottom of the list,would it be possible to have the ships listed in order by Country in a future upgrade to editor,if one is planned that is.

Second point ship types,I see you have a choice off 6 at present time,there are Submarines which I believe = a flotilla of 4 boats?

I know the game is abstract in nature,but why are there not any Destroyers in game,like Submarines these could be a Flotilla of 4-6 ships,and could be used for Anti- Submarine protection in game?

Last point is there a limit to the amount off units that can be added by the editor?

I was thinking about this the other day. I believe the Bismarck was pretty much built by the time the war started, so Germany getting it as an event sounds right to me. Re: the Gneisenau, I was wondering if the the larger ships represent more than one. So if you have the Scharnhorst group the Gneisenau is also included.

More less indeed, however with the 1.03 we have reduced number of ships in the game to decrease the micromanagement and speed up the gameplay.

This is the matter of design. Implementing those would increase the number of vessels too high. The game rules and behavior we have implemented works like the destroyers are attached to the capital ships, thus making the groups.
But if you will spend some time you can easily mod the game and implement destroyers as a subtype for Crusiers.
Last point is there a limit to the amount off units that can be added by the editor?
There shouldn't be any limit.
The only thing I would avoid is implementing country specific letters.


BTW: You can easily edit the units directly in the game files if you prefer.

Hi doomtrader thanks for all the info,I have done a huge amount off work with the Matrix game WAR PLAN ORANGE,scenarios and art work mostly,my edits are working ok so far using the editor,but I did have to go into the actual files to correct Gneisenau's listing,the editor listed her as a Battleship,so I tweaked the file numbers and she appears in game now correctly listed as a Battlecruiser,funny thing is a Battlecruiser isn't a ship type according to the 6 types ?

Side note,what are all the numbers for what ship type?

1= Battleship.
2= Battlecruiser.
3= Pocket Battleship.
4= Heavy Cruiser.
5= Light Cruiser.

Just guessing here,also is there a manual for the editor ?

Capital ships are individual units but abstracted to include imaginary destroyer screens I think?
