Time of Fury 1.05 beta patch - no installer

Time of Fury spans the whole war in Europe and gives players the opportunity to control all types of units, ground, air and naval. Not only that, each player will be able to pick a single country or selection of countries and fight his way against either the AI or in multiplayer in hotseat or Play by E-Mail. This innovative multiplayer feature will give player the chance to fight bigger scenarios against many opponents, giving the game a strategic angle that has no equal in the market. The game uses Slitherine’s revolutionary PBEM++ server system.

Time of Fury 1.05 beta patch - no installer

Post by doomtrader »

Hi there,

I assume some of you are tired waiting for the version with installer so here is the link to the 1.05 patch for Time of Fury.

http://www2.wastelands-interactive.com/ ... _patch.rar

There is no installer included, so you need to unzip the files to the right folder.

The calculating supplies: Supplies goes to units.... takes a good minute or two, if in the early turns of the grand campaign.
Also splash screen still shows 1.04, is this correct for a non-installer install.

I too am still seeing the version as 1.04 after installing the patch. I extracted the .rar file into an empty directory and then copied all the contents over into my ToF directory. The .exe file does correctly display (in Windows file directory) as last being modified on 2/22/2014.

Are you launching the game directly from the directory?

I was using the autorun.exe. I tried by directly using the tof.exe file, and I see that V1.05 is shown when the game is started that way. Is that the preferred way of starting the game?

the autorun is connected with the previous exe.
The best way is to create the shortcut on your desktop from the new exe.

I have successfully loaded 1.05 but am still noticing the supply phase lag, just prior to unit moves.
anyone else?

Is the supply issue just the Grand Campaign, or other scenarios, just running 'Fall Weiss' against the AI for a quick check and seems to be OK.

Still getting some CTD on load with 1.05 official, but better than it was, before I had to run through a process to get the game started. Load a small scenario like 'Fall Weiss', go back to Menu, load a bigger scenario like 'Fall Gelb', go back to Menu, then load the game save I actually wanted. It often worked after this process, but sometimes had to repeat several times, including restarting the computer, as after several failed loads it wouldn't start a game whatever I did.

With earlier game versions I always got the game running eventually, but so far the CTDs are less and I can sometimes go straight into the load of a saved game, which is progress. All of this is in 'Custom' mode.

I notice on the 'Storm in the Pacific' forum, comments that the game significantly raises the temperature of the CPU, with these Wastelands games my laptop cooling fan goes into overdrive running TOF, so the game system is making heavy demands on the hardware. These games don't have a high graphic content, so it must be the software configuration doing this. It may be irrelevant, but I suspect the game may be crashing because of the load it is placing on the hardware. I can often see when a game load is going to fail, as the selection of screen buttons slows down and hesitates, almost always a CTD follows.

I am now running high spec hardware with Windows 8, but with all my computers I have never failed to get the game running eventually and it's looking like this might be an improvement.

I now know enough about the game to get the best out of it and, for all it's quirks, it's a great experience, even with the known issues that still need a fix I am having a whole load of fun and enjoying it a LOT.[:)]

Slow down was grand campaign.
The laptop I'm running it on is not high end, low graphics, but good cpu.
As for fan speeds... I thought it was just me.
W.I. games turn my laptop into a hair-dryer or a hovercraft.

But I do agree, until SC3 comes along, this game still holds a special place.
It's still fun.

It doesn't depend on me.

That seems a rather odd answer doom, who does it depend on?

It depends on us as far as delivering the patch on the Matrix servers and ask them to release the patch.

Will you be equally keen to answer finally my inquiry at the SotP forums? I have also sent a message with the files attached to the company's respective address, searching any assistance in getting my PBEM going which I have been unable to launch so far.
