to the arms!

Post by bigbaba »

hi all,

after my first PBEM ended suddenly for no reason which was worth to end a game that way, i need a new opponent.

i would like to play scenario 17 at 100% as allied with only one house rule:

no carrier air attacks at night. thats all.

because i can use a notebook and a UMTS-card for internet at work, i would like to get an opponent, who can play around 3-4 rounds or more at a normal day.

Your PBEM was against Ike99?

I'd give you a go, but I have to await the end of at least 1 of my current games so keep me in mind.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Bei mir ist es das selbe - wenn eines meiner 3 PBEMs vorbei ist, komme ich gerne auf Dich zurück. Keine Zeitverschiebung = viele Züge! [:)]

Bis dahin,

As you play more and more you'll find that you become part of an ever expanding network of players.

That's me.

One game is against Todd and one is against Ralf from these forums. I'm enjoying both of them immensely as they beat me up while teaching me the ropes. I have four games going but I am still a noob who has yet to complete one. In both of these games we get about one turn done a day four days a week.

The other two games are against two of my local boardgame buddies. One of them is a WitP player who offered to "come back" to UV to help me learn it hoping of course that I will also become a WitP opponent for him. The other has just gotten the game and wants me to walk him through his first PBEM game. The game against the WitP player only progresses at about one or two turns a week. The game with the newcomer is only just getting started.

I'm definitely overcommitted right now as I have been neglecting my beta testing duties for Panther Games on Battles from the Bulge lately.

Tonight is our weekly boardgame night so no PBEM turns will get done tonight.

There are PBEM players available - not as many as there were a few years ago. I have two UV going now and 3 WitP.

As for me, I have three games running currently and must confess thats really the maximum to be involved in. Besides "just" the time the game consumes, its quite demanding to keep track of the things going in three different wars. Above all, each opponent deserves a decent amount of brain power to give a challenge and have a chance of victory. The more so as when you´re commanding the Japanese.

But this game is THAT captivatingly, could play it all day long! [8D]

I think it is a bit more than i should be in - but Ralf will not take my surrender - I will just have to show him that the Allies do not need CVs to make war. [:D]

Our game is really a crazy one! We BOTH offered surrender already (me in Dec 42, he in March 43), each time to no avail. Go figure! He has (almost) no carrier air anymore while I´m short on LBA now. [&o]
It´s June 1943 so the end of the struggle is closing in... I think I´m gonna make an AAR when we finally have ceased hostilities. If Ken agrees...[8D]

OK. I think this task will take some time since I have to cover up over a year by now. Maybe after the weekend I can give a go on this.

Be curious guys![:)]

There are players out here, but sometimes it takes a week or so to fina someone to reply to a post. Most seem to go from this game to WiTP in time. However, several seem to have come back given the scope of that game. I am in 3 1/2 games now (the half from a slow one that only is getting 2-3 turns a week done), and a few Empires in Arms games also. however, over the past year I have always seemed to have at least 3 UV games running, so don't give up looking for players.

so i sum up, joe:

scenario 17 (decision in the south pacific). i play the allied, you the japs.

and our house rules:

no one-ship convoys -- unless that's all you have left

no sub invasions

no 4Es below 11,000

PT squadron size within reason -- 3 to 6 boats per squad -- w/o any limits on the # of squads.

no carrier night attacks

no corsairs on CV.

is it ok for you, joe?

edit:

joe and me will start our first game. joe suggested scenario #2 for the beginning. "joe san" will play the japs.
