Opponent wanted, either IJN or USN

Post by Wirraway_Ace »

I just finished my game. Looking for another while waiting for WITP AE...and waiting...and waiting

Scenario 17 or 19. Committment levels negotiable. Don't play for autovictory; however, allies must defend autovictory hexes throughout game.

House rules to limit exploitation of weaknesses in game engine:
No 4E under 15,000 on naval attack or naval search
No Marine Squadrons on carriers (unless transporting)
3PTs per TF; 2 TFs per hex
No more than 2 separate CV TFs per hex
No use of multiple single ship TFs to invade/resupply in contested areas.
Limit of level 5 forts on atolls
Reasonable stacking limits on atolls
Reasonable defensive mining (e.g. about 1,000 mines per hex max)

I'll take you on with the above rules with one exception. PT flotilla's maximum size should be 5/6 which conforms with historical operations,  3 is a bit small.
Scenario 17, me US, you Jap? Commitment levels dunno,  say 140 each side??

xj, sounds good. Scenario 17, committment levels at 140. PM sent. Good Luck!

p.s. PTs TFs up to 6 are fine. No more than 12 PTs per hex?
I reviewed USN PT operations in the Pacific and they generally appear to have engaged in 2 or 3 boat sections. There were a handfull of cases where more than 3 boats engaged:
Oct 11. Guadelcanal. 4 PTs (38, 46, 48, 60) vs CL + 4-6 DDs. The object of the mission is to
make the ships stop bombarding Marines positions on the island and attack the PTs.
Dec 3. Savo Island. 8 PTs in three groups (109, 43/ 40. 48/ 59, 44, 36, 37) vs CL + 5 DDs
Dec 11. Kamimbo Bay. 8 PT vs 5 DD + Cargo ship
1943
Jan 10. Kamimbo Bay. 10 PT vs 8 DD
Jan 14. ?? 13 PT vs 9 DD
Feb 1. 11 PT in 5 groups (47, 39 / 111, 48 / 109, 36 / 123, 124 / 37, 59, 115) vs 12 DD + 3 supply
barges. A minefield was also in the area.
Aug 1. Vila. 15 PT vs 4 DD.
Aug 22. Vila. Day ! 6 PT in 2 groups vs Shore Byts + MG positions + Barges

Hi there Wirraway Ace

Thanks for the clarification.  Funnily enough I was actually thinking of the battle reports of January '43 & also August 22nd @ Vila which had 2 x 6 boat flotilla's.  But I agree a max of 12 PT boats a hex under any pre-planned circumstances
BTW have not received any PM from you,  will try sending you one with my day-time Email addy
