i have the pleasure to play the underdog against the migh of the USN..against jamie. i just opened a little sushi restaurant in rabaul but jamie does not like raw fish and wants to demolish the sushi bar and place a "burger king" there. although i like the whopper, i can not allow that he poisons the poor natives at rabaul with his fast food. after all, sushi is healthier.[:D]
we are at the beginning of october 1942 now. i captured PM, GG and the solomon area and wait for the comming counterattack of jamie now. at the beginning, i lost 1 CV and a CVL to his carrier force and jamie lost several medium and heavy bombers.
beside that, the loses are light and espacialy my nells and bettys are still intact.

Great fun Bigbaba! Hopefully you go on this way!!!!!!
One word of advice - beef up your roof with some heavy reinforced concrete... In order to keep your snack stall running when the Allied 4E BurgerBombers come in range [;)]
quiet days so far. recon flights and submarine contacts are not realy something exciting.
and so, my troops chill out at rabaul and try to win the natives for the emperor.[;)]
impressions from rabaul:
the new camouflage technique of our troops. even the a modern army can learn new things from the natives. we will place this between palm trees at the beach to increase the confusion.[:D] you never know..is it a harmless tree or is it a samurai?
29/10/1942, from the HQ of the 3th fleet and the HQ of the 2nd and 11 air fleet, rabaul:
several angol-american ships spotted south and west of PM. the enemy fleet contains the CV wasp and at least 4 other CV with a huge escorting force.....enemy troops beginn landing operations west of PM.....admiral tanaka, the naval and air commander of the solomon area sends the following order of the day to all units in the area: the rise and fall of the empire depends on the outcome of the following battle. i expect from everyone to do his duty. good hunting and long live the emperor...BANZAI! BANZAI! BANZAI!

Wow - This is what I call a bold attack! Your AirOps Commander deserves a special serving of your very best Sushi along with some Sake! Not too much of the latter in order to keep him "operational"...[;)]
How the heck do you manage to attack an 8 ship TF with 157 torpedo planes and skate away with only three damaged planes? Were the flak gunners out to lunch?
I'm playing a solitaire game as Japanese to get some practice for my game against Jamie as the Japs and when I send torpedo bombers out they get eaten alive by the American flak with 40-60% losses. I'm lucky if 10-15% get through the flak.
hmm, maybe the number of the attacking planes simply overwhelmed the flak? more targets mean lesser fire concentration.
there are several air HQ in rabaul..the pilots have high moral and low fatigue and each level bomber daitai has 10% of its planes on naval search.
maybe that plays a role.
anyway...jamie is striking back as you see above. and i have realy problems to keep PM supplied because of his total air dominance south of PM. any suggestions except rising the white flag?[:D]
when i lose PM, the anglo-american barbarians will be able to attack the sushi-bar at rabaul what would cost us the war because a japanese soldier can not fight without sushi in his stomach.
