Amphibious Landings

Post by british exil »

Hi
I'm new here.
Be nice if s.o could answer a few questions.[&:]
As at the moment I'm learning buy doing, and it's costing me beaucoup troops, ships and planes.[:@]
How can I create barges? Are they available in every scenario?
Is it possible to attack an enemy occupied island using landing craft and the marines?
I'm playing scene 8 and would like to push the jap troops out of Tassafaronga.(The little island just between the Canal and Tulagi)
If it is possible how do I go about it?

Would be great to recieve some help and tips.[:D]

Load a transport TF with supplies. You then get an option to create barges at the port the transport TF is located.

Is it possible to attack an enemy occupied island using landing craft and the marines?

Yeap. Do it all of the time.

Tassafaronga is part of the Canal. The island between Tulagi and the Canal is Savo.

Where down the defenders. Then attack with superior numbers. You'll have to learn when to use deliberat or shock.

I hope this helps.

1. RECON THAT BASE AND SURROUNDING BASES. WHAT IS THE SIZE OF THEIR FORCES?[:)]
2. US HAS AWESOME LBA. ALSO IF YOU HAVE LUNGA, YOU CAN STRAFE WITH P-39S (WHICH WILL GET THEIR EXP LEVELS HIGH SO THEY BECOME UBER P-38S AND RIP THE GUTS OUT OF IJN FIGHTERS[:'(][:D]]. BOMB THEM. BOMB THEM SOMEMORE.
3. BOMBARDMENT RUNS WILL ALSO INCREASE PAIN.
4. IF YOU HAVE LUNGA I WOULD SEND A COUPLE OF FRESH UNITS IN (NO NEED FOR A LANDING UNLESS YOU DO NOT HAVE LUNGA.[:o]

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE LUNGA YOU NEED TO BE CAREFUL.
YOU HAVE 2 MAIN CHOICES.
1. FAST TRANSPORTATION. USING DDS AND DMS DROP IN A REGIMENT. REMEMBER TO SEND A SEPERATE FT (SMALL IS FINE) WITH SUPPLY.
2. IF HE HAS GOOD SIZE FORCES AT THE OTHER GUADALCANAL HEXES A FULLOUT INVASION IS NECESSARY (BIG TRANSPORT FLEET, BOMBARDMENT CONVOYS, SURFACE CONVOYS (IN CASE HE SENDS IN FLEET) AND YOUR CV FLEET FOR COVER. YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WITH THIS ONE, IF HANDLED INCORRECTLY A GOOD IJN PLAYER WILL RIP YOUR LUNGS OUT USING A COMBO OF LBA, KB, SURFACE ATTACKS (THE KONGO CLASS IS WONDERFUL FOR THIS AS THEY ARE FAST) MINES AND SUBS....
BRING LOTS OF MSW....IF THE IJN PLAYER IS DECENT AND LIKES MINES THERE WILL BE INCREDIBLE AMOUNTS WAITING FOR YOU. CONSIDER DMS RUNS AHEAD OF THE INVASION TO CLEAR SOME...

political and strategic mistakes live forever". The authors were refering to Japan but the same could be said of the US misadventure in Iraq

Thanks for the advice.
Still new to this kind of game. Keep forgetting things. Have to keep making notes on note pad so as to remember what items have to go where and when.

Have a lot to learn.
