UofC Won't Play

Unity of Command lets you replay the epic conflict that was the Stalingrad Campaign of World War II. In this turn-based game of strategy and cunning, observe how opportunity leads the German army to advance recklessly into the steppes of southern Russia. And as the story unfolds, join the Soviet campaign to repel the invaders... As these legendary battles play out on the hex board, the tension of decision making and difficulties of conducting operations on a massive scale emerge. Command armies and fronts in maneuver warfare, thrust and encircle, capture cities and cross continents; but never, ever forget to watch your supply lines. The Red Turn expansion ads a gigantic Soviet expansion centered on the Kursk campaign.

UofC Won't Play

Post by bobboyd »

I installed the above, but it appears that I'm having display issues. I can tell the program is not installing properly because everytime I open for the first time after installation I am not asked for the key. The program opens, but when I click to choose a scenario the screen moves to a small rectangle in the top left corner of my screen. My cursor freezes in the area of the rectangle, and the only way I can close the program is through ctrl-alt-del and end task.

I removed my AVG antivirus program and switched to Microsoft Security Essentials to see if that was the issue but I still have the problem.

I can play the game on my laptop, but not on my PC.

I can play other games on the PC, so my guess is that it's a display conflict with this program.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bob

Have you tried to uninstall the program and reinstall?

1. Run the game as administrator?
2. I have the game running on my Windows 7 and it runs smoothly. I am asking some other players on Teamspeak but no luck. Take a look at a comparison between the laptop and Pc.

3., What graphic card? Perhaps go back to an older driver and try that?

I hope you can find the answer

Yes. In fact I've tried to reinstall several times after making changes that I think may be affecting the program. My video card is an NVidia card and I know it has sufficient memory. In fact I'm pretty sure that I've run the game on this video card before, which is why I think there has been a change to my system that has an impact on this game in particular.

I'm not sure how to run the game as administrator, so I'll play around to see if I can figure that out. But if it requires opening the game, I don't think I will get far.

I'll take a look at the settings on the laptop to see if I can see any clues to settings that I need to change.

Thanks for your feedback!

Right click the icon you use to start the game, then select properties in the pop up menu and then compatibility. Run as admin is check box near the bottom.
