Possible WITP news?

Post by Oleg Mastruko »

Just some food for thought for those of you who don't read Usenet (which is I believe 99% of people here). Excerpt from a post by Erik Rutins, regarding soon to be released Matrix games (read the last line):
Here are the releases we're trying to get out by Christmas, we'll see
how we do... it's a very full schedule and we've already had some
unexpected delays.

Advanced Tactics
Battlefields of the Civil War (Battlegrounds Compilation)
Battlefields of the Napoleonic War (Battlegrounds Compilation + Age of
Sail)
Harpoon Commander's Edition (Harpoon Classic)
Close Combat: Modern Tactics
Napoleon in Italy
Empires in Arms
Panzer Command: Kharkov
Democracy

... and a nice surprise for fans of War in the Pacific. ;-)

This post forwarding service had been provided free of charge by post forwarding division of 3rd Coastwatcher group, Teloekbetoeng (just the first crazy WITP name I remembered right now).

And no, I don't have any idea what this could be, I am just forwarding the post.

From the New York Wire Service:
"In a recent deal with Matrixgames, Mr Hara Haramoto, the oldest surviving veteran Japanese soldier from WWII has agreed to be the "prize" of the winning entrant of the upcoming Matrixgames lottery, which will run soon after Thanksgiving in America.
The lottery will be open only to registered owners of the Matrixgames classic "WAR IN THE PACIFIC".
The lucky winner will be allowed to have Mr Haramoto live in their home for a full month!
In a recent interview, a Matrixgames spokesperson stated "The fact that Mr Haramoto does not speak any language but Japanese should present no real problems as food is the common language"!
Since the war, Mr Haramoto had been working as a Sumo wrestler, and at one point had gotten his weight up to 324 lbs, but since retirement, has not been able to afford as much food as he would like, (ergo his natural liking to the challenge put to him by Matrixgames.)
"It just seemed like a nice opportunity to see how the rest of the world lives, and eats!"(says Mr Harimoto.)[:'(]

That would certainly be a surprise, although I'm not sure it would be considered "nice" by everyone.[:D]

He'd better... And if your "source" is who I think he is, then he doesn't know anything, so don't bother...

... and a nice surprise for fans of War in the Pacific. ;-)

[/quote]

If it is the lcu model thats fixed they could perhaps turn their attention to something i yearn for..WAR IN THE ATLANTIC...the war in Europe wuold tend to emphasise more on land combat..it would be a massive game with the unit level of control you have in WITP.

I have never considered buying any of these WWII Europe games because they do not seem to have the level of control i desire in a war game....

What do you guys think?
