Windows 7 and WITP

Post by Basement Command »

OK. I have looked, but I can’t find the answer already Posted. If I get myself a new laptop running Windows 7, will WITP run on Win 7? Or will I have to pony up for Admiral’s Edition? I know Win 7 is not specifically listed as a supported OS, but will it run? Has anybody had any experience (good, bad, indifferent) with WITP and Win 7?
The only skills I have the patience to learn are those that have no practical application in real life.

I haven't heard of problems with Windows 7 and if it runs with Vista, well enough said.

About ponying up for AE, well that's in the future, if you like WITP it'll happen. I liked UV loads, was scared of WITP and love it now. I was shy about AE and the more I use it the more there is to like about it. As my one PBEM ends with me (the Japnaese) getting clobbered I am moving to the short scenarios to learn AE better and have started the 1K Mile War as a PBEM with an eye towards a campaign down the road.

I never thought that doing an AAR would be so time consuming and difficult.

Some people have had to do some OS tweaking to get WitP and AE to work in Vista and Win 7, but both work.  AE didn't change much about the core game engine, so the system requirements for the two games are close to the same.  AE uses more RAM, but that's about the only difference from a system perspective.  From a player's perspective there are a lot of differences though.
